Summary

In which a Watcher learns to be human again, with no small amount of difficulty.
Or: In which Grian crash-lands into Mumbo's world, promptly dies, and also accidentally acquires a very persistent best friend who seems to think Grian is in dire need of both stability and cuddles. (He's not.)
(He is.)
(First chapter was originally part of The Pines, now moved for organizational purposes.)

Summary
Doc is a very intelligent man who has never done anything wrong, ever.
Consequently, the fact that there is now a stranger in the middle of his lab, looking utterly disheveled and very confused, is absolutely not his fault. Neither is the smoking phone booth-like machine which the stranger has just stumbled out of. This is all going perfectly normal and according to plan.
(Oh, he’s screwed.)

Rewrite of The Fourth Star
⭑
Watchers. Beings of ultimate power. Gods.
They were simply a myth, a legend lost to the past. Or at least, that's what many thought. That's what X used to think. Until he comes face-to-face with two of them.
And unfortunately, the two seem to have an interest in making Hermitcraft their new home.
Xisuma has no choice, forced to comply with what the Watchers asked of him. He was granted power unlike any other, yet he is chained by their control. The server will be torn apart, distrust and chaos between Hermits.
All because of him.

Summary
(Previously known as "memento mori," renamed (for obvious reasons) to "invictus" = "unconquerable,")
As he looked at the filthy ceiling, he sighed and prepared to repeat his mantra of everything that should keep him going, then stopped himself. There was no point. His family would never find him, and he couldn’t escape this living hell on his own. A hopeless feeling creeped into his chest. The harsh ringing in his ears faded to silence.
That’s when he noticed the first voice had started talking.
Hello, Technoblade.
Or,
Ever wonder how Techno got those voices in his head?

Summary
Grian is non-human.
It’s not the most obvious thing in the world – he hides it well – but if you know what to look for, the signs are littered all over the place. It’s in how he holds himself, in how he walks and flies. It’s in how he smiles the first time Xisuma meets him, the first time they shake hands.

"Harry Potter," Voldemort began, and then was surprised yet again when the boy had the audacity to interrupt the dark lord.
"Sorry to disappoint, but Harry's not here right now," Potter said, smirking slightly.

Harry Potter is not an Obscurial.
Harry Potter is an Obscurial.
Both are technically true-- because in a version of reality where his life is just that little bit worse, Harry Potter is not alone in his head. He's not even the original.
Canon Harry Potter is the split personality, and has no idea there's another personality in his head who is both an Obscurial, and very, very done with all of this nonsense.- Language:

Starting out on Hermitcraft only knowing Mumbo was hard enough. But then there was also Doc. Doc, who was huge and intimidating already. Whose Creeperness set off Grians avian fight or flight instincts if he even looked in his direction. And who seemed to have a personal bone to pick with him courtesy of Grian being a Watcher.

“That’s—”
“I don’t understand,” Grian speaks over him, bordering a whine. “I thought romance meant giving your heart to someone, isn’t this what humans do?”
At this, Scar pauses.
“You—wait—”
// OR, Scar is human. Grian is not. Sometimes, love declarations between an eldritch being and a human being are messy and misinformed. Exhibit A: Humans don't actually give away their hearts when in love.

“Grian! Good to see you back dude!”
“About time!”
“Finally! We’ve been waiting on you!”
There were so many voices. So many faces they couldn’t recognize, yet forced themself to smile at each one of them. One of the voices raised above all others.
“Now that we’re all here, welcome everyone, to season 9!”
_______________________________________________________________________________
Xelqua doesn’t remember a lot of things, but they do remember that they want to be a Watcher. More than anything else. But for whatever reason, the Watchers in charge don’t seem to agree with them on that.
And who exactly is this Grian character they get mistaken for in this strange server they’re sent to?

Summary
Religion isn't a common thing across the Severs, but with the wide range of backgrounds the Hermits come from, Xisuma is sure they each have their own beliefs. He doesn't think it's that uncommon to follow a god, certainly not worth the look of terror on Grian's face when Xisuma explains that his patron is a Watcher named Xelqua.

Summary
Watchers were supposed to be worshipped. It’s their source of powers as minor deities, after all.
Grian, who wanted nothing more than to forget his Watcher past, was quite happy not to be worshipped at all. So when the Hermits collectively started praying to Xelqua and Grian started to gain a lot of Watcher magic, it put a real damper on his mood, health, self-perception and his relationships. With Mumbo gone off-world, it was now up to Scar, Pearl and Xisuma to worry about him – if Grian would let them. But Grian was nothing if not stubborn. He’d get through this alone, right?
..Right?
