“Christ, I’m gonna be sick.” Hayden said faintly.
Shane’s head reared back and Rozanov immediately stood. “Then fucking leave, Pike.”
Hayden realised what he’d said and held his hands up, a look of panic on his face. “No. No, I didn’t mean- Shane I’m fine with you being gay, I swear-“
Rozanov rolled his eyes. “Someone give this man a medal-“
“For fuck's sake, Ilya-“
“I’m just shocked. I mean, can you blame me?”
Though the question wasn’t aimed at him, J.J responded. “No.”
He felt similarly. He was fine that Shane was gay. He knew people in the league would have a problem with it, but he was not like that. He didn't give a fuck.
It was the lying that he hated. Years of it.
That felt too much like a betrayal.
