In their place, two bright heads of auburn replaced them, with their once striking blue eyes lifeless as they stared back at him. Beautiful scars littered their blank faces, with matching freckles and eyebrows that used to hold so many expressions.

The inviting scents of honey cakes and fine wine filled his heart with a terrible ache of longing that forced him to look away. Greece was a land that he’d left far behind him, and he wasn’t ready to visit that grief now.
