Summary

The coin flips on its other face, a butterfly flaps its wings, and the course of fate is changed irreversibly. The weight of one single choice is only ever questioned when both outcomes are clear, but parallel universes are parallel for a reason. They never intersect.

Summary
Ikeda hasn't seen Tei since the second trial ended. Which, is probably fine. He's not Tei's keeper, so it doesn't matter what the fourteenth student is doing anyway.
Ikeda assumes Tei is just avoiding him, considering he tried to get him killed and all. But when enough time has passed that Ikeda is starting to get hungry again, he starts looking for Tei.
But Tei is fine. He has to be.

Summary
Everyone always feels like they have to take sides in an argument. Someone has to be right, someone else has to be wrong, there's not black or white, or gray, only good and bad.
It's hard to stop and consider what the other party may be thinking, how they feel, what they're going through, especially in the heat of the moment. Especially if you don't care enough to know. But feelings are complicated, a maze that seems impossible to navigate alone.
So, what better way to get people to cooperate than taking two who refuse to understand each other and are convinced the other is wrong no matter how much they argue and forcing them together against their will!
OR; I throw Jax and Ragatha into a situation to prove they're both good and nuanced characters and you're allowed to like one without hating the other.

Summary
When Scott picked up that Owlin figure in the game shop, he figured he'd made the right choice. Even if he wasn't aware of what would happen next, he managed to get some sick owl wings out of it, and owls are just awesome. Compared to the others, it seemed like he got the most of our their bad situation.
Until it didn't.
No one told him when he decided to be an owl, he'd get the all the bad parts along with the good. Granted, no one told him any of what was going to happen when he picked up that figure, but he still would've appreciated some sort of heads up.
Now he's just pissed.
Aka: I like owls too much so I wrote Scott having to deal with realism. This was written for me and me alone.

Summary
After the elevator comes to a stop, and the doors open, the remaining twelve students all go their separate ways. Hirose tries his hardest to ignore the way the group seems to be actively falling apart, friendships eroding and the trust they had in each other dwindling. He tries his hardest not to remind himself just how much he played a part in everything breaking down.
In the end, only he and Denden remain. He swears she's actively trying not to speak to him, but she can't seem to leave his side either.
“Let’s talk in the medbay, alright? Just me and you, Denden.”
(Or, Hirose and Denden have a much-needed conversation after the second class trial ends.)

The first thing he lost was the sense of where his body ended and the machine began.
The wires weren’t just restraints, they burrowed and coiled. Rooted themselves through his clothing and skin and dug deeper, like living things eager to taste celestial marrow. Each time one pierced a new layer as his body attempted to heal around them, a wet, sickening pop echoed inside the chamber. His golden blood leaked down the cords in narrow, shimmering streams, dripping onto scorched metal. It must’ve looked beautiful.
It didn’t feel beautiful.
