Summary
When Shen Yuan dies, cursing the disappointing ending of Proud Immortal Demon Way, he wakes up to find himself inside the story, as a demon NPC. Which is pretty cool, as far as transmigration experiences go! The only problem is that his character is trapped in the form of a dragon-like beast, alone in a half-ruined castle. But he adapts, keeping to himself aside from one quick trip to the human realm that triggers a minor plot deviation with major consequences.
After that experience, Shen Yuan retreats into solitude again… until the Immortal Alliance Conference, where he decides to intervene more intentionally in Luo Binghe's fate. After taking the young protagonist under his wing, however, he’s surprised to learn just how much the story has already diverged from its origins.
And he and Luo Binghe are both surprised when the Bai Zhan War God, Liu Qingge, tracks them down—determined to ‘rescue’ the disciple who once saved his life.
(A Bingliushen story, vaguely inspired by Beauty and the Beast.)

Summary
The peak lord of Bai Zhan, supposedly a battle maniac with a title of “War God" and a perfect contrast to Shen Qingqiu’s peak of scholarly study, had been little more than a throwaway introduction line that gave his name and a throwaway death that fueled a teenage romance. Shen Yuan rankles a little at the wasted narrative. Wouldn’t it have been interesting to have a character set up to constantly be clashing with Shen Qingqiu, to mirror Luo Binghe’s struggle between his scholarly aspirations and the kind of violence that came so naturally to him? Wouldn’t it be another hint at the duality within the protagonist that, despite all the faults of this story, was pretty damn interesting?
“No, of course this Bai Zhan peak lord dies because of Binghe’s scum shizun, and of course the story is just more misery jerk-off bullshit!”
Shen Yuan transmigrates a little early, bemoaning Liu Qingge's unceremonious death for narrative purposes. He and Liu Qingge grow up together, with everything that that kind of relationship entails.

Podfic. Posting on Mondays and Fridays. When trying to transfer Shen Yuan from the real world to Proud Immortal Demon Way, the System runs into an error. The transfer is not complete.
Shen Yuan is dropped off at the foot of a mountain aware of two things: he's in the story, and the Shen Qingqiu of this world is not only aware but thinks he tried to possess his body — and he's PISSED. Shen Yuan tries to opt out and live a simple life on what locals tell him is a monster-infested mountain no one in their right mind would bother with.
Sounds like a great hiding spot!
(TL;DR: Stardew Scum Villain Valley Mountain.)

According to Ning Yingying and some older Shimei’s, everyone had been baffled when Shizun had made him a personal disciple. He was good enough to be an inner disciple but not the best by a long shot, and Shizun only took The Best. He didn’t get into any of the infighting senior disciples normally did for their Shizun’s favor because according to Ning Yingying
“Shizun thinks Shen-Shixiong is a lazy brat, and Shixiong doesn’t care what anyone thinks ‘cause he’s always trying to get off the mountain to go hunt monsters like he’s some Bai Zhan Brute.” She had then assured Luo Binghe that he’d love Shen Yuan.
Luo Binghe has a sinking feeling in his chest that perhaps, this is the most accurate thing his Shijie has ever said to him.

That is until he gets a call from Florida’s child protective services congratulating him on his three new sudden additions to his family. Jackson insists on coming with him. Holland discovers a whole new side to himself he never knew he had. Healy reassures him it doesn’t make him a bad man. But March can’t help but question… was he capable of doing it again?
Ryland’s blood curdling scream echos through his mind while he looks over the antique rifle on the counter in front of him. He thumbs over the brass trigger and walnut wood finish.
