“Negative—disregard. Floor three isn’t stable. Repeat: do not vent!” Ed shouts into his receiver.
Crackling static comes back to him and a thick wave of smoke rolls down to surround Ed. The guys on the ground can’t fucking hear him and they’re both going to fucking die now. Fuck!

Stede Bonnet, in a teal silk blouse that’s buttoned obscenely low, raises his daiquiri in cheers (of course he drinks daiquiris and Ed hates how fond that knowledge makes him feel).
