The energy in the room was electrified. It tended to happen with them so close and yet Jean felt excitement and anticipation rush through him. Summary
Midway through Jean’s fifth season playing for the Los Angeles Tectonics, Jeremy knows that Jean won’t be able to stay in the league much longer. With the continued strain on Jean’s body from playing professionally, as well as the old injuries from the Ravens, Jeremy knows retirement is Jean’s best option, and it’ll be easy enough to convince the Moriyamas to retain 80% of his salary instead of Jean’s. After all, he’ll be a Moreau soon. He has no idea what their lives will look like after that, but he’s ready to find out.

He takes an embarrassingly long moment to collect himself, breathing out through his nose and ignoring the phantom tingling on the inside of his left thigh. It’s not happening.

“I have never filmed with another man before,” Jean says the minute Jeremy sits across from him.
Jeremy’s fist reflexively tightens around his black coffee, and it burns at his palm through the little cardboard heat guard. He takes a moment to blink and right himself. The novelty of a smooth French accent means he needs extra time to get his heart under control before speaking again.
“…I didn’t think you were gay for pay,” is all he can manage to spit out.
Jean Moreau tilts his head, something like offense in the furrow of his dark brows. On his left cheekbone, a black 3 is inked under the skin. Most of his online following has no idea what the tattoo means; when Jean reached out with the offer of shooting together, he told Jeremy its history. Jeremy doesn’t really know how to feel about it—about looking at a trafficking victim’s brand in the middle of sex. Hopefully Jean will shove his face in the mattress and they can ignore it together.
“I like men,” Jean says with false nonchalance.

Andrew doesn’t move. Rather his gaze only intensifies until it starts to feel like he’s looking through Neil, dissecting a difficult puzzle he is considering throwing away.
Neil feels his patience fraying, "Drew," he prompts, his voice dropping an octave, softened by a plea he knows better than to put into words.
"You are a twenty-six-year-old man," Andrew finally says. The words sound like they are being dragged over gravel. He doesn't even look angry anymore, just exhausted. "Not a child who thinks holding his own health hostage is a valid negotiation tactic.”
"It got you to say something," Neil counters, though a sharp pang of guilt twists in his gut at the look in Andrew's eyes.
"Take the pills, Neil. I’m not going to argue with you about your inability to follow basic medical instructions. Not when I spent the night wondering if you were even going to wake up.”
