“Me Grimlock crush enemies,” he rumbles, “but Starscream not worth effort.”
Starscream gawks. He doesn't know if he's more offended or relieved.
“Excuse me?”
“Pathetic. Small. Weak.” Grimlock shakes his helm dismissively, tail thudding against the dirt like a gavel. “Not challenge. Not fun.”
Starscream bristles, indignant despite the situation.
“‘Not fun’? I’ll have you know-”
“Quiet.” Grimlock growls, turning away. His tail knocks a tree over. He doesn't seem to notice. “Stay out of Grimlock’s way. Or next time, Starscream not be so lucky.”

Starscream crash lands on Dinobot Island. The only way he's going to survive long enough to get off the Primus-forsaken rock is to somehow convince an apex predator to protect him.

Summary
Hot Rod wakes up to Megatron, the Scourge of Kaon, staring down at him with an intensity that would make a lesser mech pass out on the spot. He also remembers his life flashing before his optics and thinking that this was it, that he was kliks away from getting scrapped. Until he is picked up and... cuddled? Suddenly he realizes just how small he is (way smaller than he should be) and— is Megatron smiling at him?!
Hot Rod dies in the Last Battle and is reincarnated as Megatron's newborn son and he's not the only one subjected to this bizarre fate.
Starscream doesn't remember dying but nevertheless, he is reincarnated as his trinemate's tiny infant seekerling with an embarrassingly useless outlier ability.
Prowl doesn't remember much of who he used to be except for vague feelings of familiarity which nag at him— especially so when he looks at his supposed creators, Impactor and Smokescreen.
When the three inevitably meet, they put aside their differences as former enemies to uncover the truth behind their reincarnation and just maybe, create a better future for Cybertron together. And who knows, maybe there are more like them out there...
