Rumi facepalmed, showing Mira who almost choked on her food laughing at their chaos gremlin. She hummed, satisfied at the chin resting on her shoulder and lips pressed themselves into the juncture of her neck, one arm snaked around her stomach while the other was used to finish eating.
“You know” Rumi began, not at all perturbed by the attention, “No one’s going to take me from you right?”
“Yes there is”
“No one else is here”
“The air is”
“You think the air is going to take me from you?”
A prolonged silence settled over the two as the clingy woman took her last bite, chewed, and then with a seriousness of a navy seal, said, “Yes” with so much conviction Rumi snorted out a laugh, so hard she would’ve doubled over it weren't for the vice grip around her midriff.

Summary
Imagine a world where you and your friends get the opportunity to pack up the necessities, steal a car and leave your lives behind. Now imagine all that but it's the apocalypse. Long story short, one of your friends can't walk, two of them have crushes on the other but PTSD is still a thing, one is in a long distance relationship (no idea how he does that), the other two have no idea what they are but the one with anger issues gets socked in the face at some point and with the last official couple...well one is questioning how the hell they fell in love with a moron.

“Whoa, no—no consent here! I didn’t agree to any of this 'mating' thing. It’s not normal to just… tell someone that! There’s a process to these things, you know? Like dating… holding hands. I hardly know anything about you two! You should at least take me out for dinner first before trying to get in my pants.” She forced a weak laugh, hoping the joke would diffuse the tension, but her blush deepened, mortified by her own boldness.
Mira tilted her head. “Dinner? Pants? What do these mean? We hunt for food, not ‘take out.’ And your… coverings? We wear hides for practicality, not barriers.”
Rumi buried her face in her hands, groaning in embarrassment. “Oh god, never mind. It’s a human joke. I mean… you should spend time with me, get to know me better—talk, share stories, build trust—before trying to take things further. Like romantically, or whatever this is.”
Zoey’s eyes glinted with sudden excitement. “So… you’re saying we can mate with you if we court you right? If we do this ‘process’ your way?” Her tail swished eagerly, the prospect of learning more about humans making her light up like a bioluminescent bloom.
Or, Rumi betrays her species to have a hot alien threesome.

Rumi froze.
She tapped the video, replaying. And there, she could see it. Mira’s arm— low, angled toward her seat, vanishing out of frame. Doing a mental check, it was exactly where Rumi remembered: resting tentatively against the edge of her seat, fingertips brushing close enough that she’d felt a phantom warmth on her thigh the whole ride.
