Unable to stop himself, Chris picked his phone back up and swiped it on. He went to Instagram… to the Christopher’s Haven account… to the photos from the gala. He’d already looked at them a few times. One of the photos was of the string quartet while they were performing.
His eyes kept being drawn to Kyrie. Her face was in profile, her viola tucked under her chin, eyes closed in concentration. He zoomed in on the photo, noticing the way her dark lashes curled and the hint of a dimple in her cheek, the plump curve of her lower lip and the elegant arch of her neck.

This might have been a good time to strike up a conversation. He looked open to it - maybe even interested - but my brain was blank.
This wasn’t a feeling I was used to. I was never at a loss for words - I was a very outgoing person. I interacted with strangers all the time at trade shows. I was confident. I was sure of myself. But I felt...flustered. Tongue tied.

We all know the media loves a salacious story, and this one had it all: kidnapping, a bizarre religious cult, sex, and murder. Almost everything that had happened to me fifteen years ago was back in the spotlight. And of course I hadn’t been the only victim - the other girls at the compound went through much of the same trauma as I had - less the murdering - but those of us still here had adopted a “code of silence” that was still unbroken to this day.

I decided I wanted to go with him. There was nothing for me back in Ferndale. Hell, there was nothing for me in Montana.

I stood there and watched, entranced, as he kneaded the dough with his strong fingers. The longer I watched, the hornier I got. He turned the dough, folded it, pushed it with his hands…over and over and over. I became almost hypnotized, and my mind went to those hands on me, imagining him kneading and pushing. He grabbed a little more flour and sprinkled it over the dough and the counter, then went back to kneading, concentrating on the task at hand.
About four minutes in, he glanced up at me and his hands stopped. I moistened my lips and he straightened, rubbing his fingers in soft circles over the smooth top of the dough. My teeth caught my lower lip as I watched his gentle ministrations.

Chris was just raising his arms above his head to bring the ax down. He was shirtless, and glistening with sweat, the sun shining down on his pale body.
I was spellbound by the movements of his muscles under his skin as he swung the ax…the jolt through his body as the ax split the wood…the sweat dripping off his nose…the low grunt of exertion that escaped his mouth. The wood split down the middle and he bent to pick the pieces up, tossing them onto the split pile. He ran his hand through his hair, pushing the long locks back from his face.
My eyes roved over his torso - his very tattooed torso - and his lightly furred, very damp, chest. My eyes followed the line of hair that trailed down his beautifully defined abs and disappeared into his tattered and dirty jeans.

For a prompt: "AU in which a young hydra agent is promoted to being some sort of lab tech/assistant/security guard for the Winter Soldier, sometime just before Steve's survival is discovered. The agent is there when the winter soldier is awake, and something triggers a break in programming, and poor Bucky says something just as heartbreaking as the 'but I knew him' line. this causes the hydra agent to begin having Thoughts about the winter soldier and what's been done to him. Eventually the agent will discover that the winter soldier is Bucky Barnes, and, when Caps survival is discovered, decide they must break Bucky out of Hydra, rehabilitate him, and take him back to Steve."

Henry and Rebecca meet in 2003. Rebecca is determined to lose her virginity before her holiday is over.
They spend a few days together in Venice before a family emergency forces her to unexpectedly return to the USA. Because real names were not used, they have no idea how to find each other, and so go on with their lives.
Fast forward to 2023. Henry is now famous and is doing promotion for the Venice Simplon Orient Express, the train he and Rebecca met on 20 years previous.
Rebecca is now a freelance photographer for travel and architecture magazines. She has no idea who Henry is, as she was too busy travelling the world to pay attention to celebrities/movies. She’s also had a lot of loss and trauma in the last twenty years.
They meet again, and Henry has to convince her she is worthy of love.

INDEFINITE HIATUSOkay, so, I have been neglecting this fic for awhile. It’s my first fic. It’s my baby. Here’s the deal - I want to redo this fic. I want to combine the chapters so the POV’s switch within the chapter, as I’ve been doing with my newer fics. I want to make it *better* because (IMO) my writing has kinda improved. 😉
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
Wellll…it means this fic is going to languish. For awhile. Maybe for a few years, because a rewrite is daunting. I have a ton of ideas for other fics that I really want to get out there (under my NicInTNS acct) I do want to finish this because I have some good stuff already written, and I hate leaving things unfinished.
So…I apologize for how long it might take to get back to this.
