Harry meets his gaze.
“Of course I am, Hermione is our best shot here, and you know it.”
Malfoy’s jaw ticks.
“They’ve never seen her face before, she’s the perfect agent to send-”
“With me,” the blond snipes, muscles in his neck working, “surely you can see how that might come across as suspicious.”
Harry sighs, leaning back in his chair.
“You’re just going to have to sell it, then, aren’t you.”
A beat passes.
And Malfoy, his hands are curled into fists, his shoulders rippling with tension.
“She fits the description well enough, too. The ideal honey pot.”
Harry's words are punctuated by the tapping of his quill on the desk before him.
Malfoy leans carefully over it, now, his hands splayed onto the top.

It'd be so much easier if Aerith could bring herself to hate Tseng, if only so she'd appreciate how little time they have together instead of needing more. There are times, more and more frequent, when she wants him to stop acting like some sort of glorified chaperone and acknowledge what he really is, and ought to be. A stalker.
Of all the things that have changed over the past five years, Tseng and Aerith's relationship isn't one of them—even though the arbitrary distance between them has been weighing on their minds lately. And since Tseng refuses to bridge the gap with words, it falls to Aerith to find another way. Follows an alternate take on the power dynamics of Aerith and the Turks, and an exploration of an Aquarian view on love. Post-CC, pre-FFVII, neither canon-compliant nor explicitly AU.
