Nervously he stopped walking alongside Warpath. Bumblebee felt his neck cables flex as he worked up the nerve to ask, "And... unofficially?"
The larger bot stopped ahead of him. With a slight turn, the corporal glared at him. For all of a moment, the gangway between the Omega and the Ares awaited a break to the stifling silence between the two Autbots.
Eventually, Warpath answered simply: "Pest control."
Due to a clerical blunder on Optimus' part, Bumblebee is abruptly transferred out of Prime's crew and onto that of Team Artemis. There he will serve under the command of Warpath—an older bot who fought and failed to defend the Commonwealth with honor during the Great War—for the sole purpose of acting as the Cadre Captain to his section of minibots.
However, the only minibot present is one that Bumblebee never thought he would see again: Wasp.

“Then I must ask that you endure this, little one. I am aware that this request is selfish and there is no justification I can give for there is no argument in its favour, but please. Will you bear the weight of this burden for your kin? It is clear to me that they need you just as much as we need them.”
“It’s not a burden. Not if it’s you. Not if it’s this team.” Burden felt too strong of a word. Too brutal for what was actually going to be taking place. Optimus was a pillar of strength and comfort and heart, the glue that kept these wandering souls together. To call befriending him as something so vile felt intrinsically wrong and you weren’t going to stand for it.
If you were going to do this, you were going to do it right. No half-assing anything, fear and terror be damned. No matter what it was, you were willing to find a way to help end this conflict.

"Were we friends before?" Blitzwing asks. When Bumblebee doesn't immediately answer, Blitzwing continues, "I know you tried to shoot me, but if you're helping me now... does that mean we were friends at some point?"
Blitzwing's blue face doesn't have any expression in particular, but Bumblebee can hear the hesitance in his voice. Some strange mix of hope and sadness.
Bumblebee should shake his head. So he does, eventually, but he can't help how awful he feels having to admit it. He's lied enough to Blitzwing. He turns his head, not wanting to meet the mech's optics, instead surveying the glistening snow around them.
"No, we weren't." He starts slowly, feeling a lump in his throat. "But, I mean. I couldn't just leave you there on your own, right? Didn't feel right to abandon you."
He doesn't know how or when it started. There were many chances he could have taken; there were times when he'd done nothing but wait for easy opportunities to shoot, to run, to kill. But things kept going wrong. And eventually he stopped planning. He stopped thinking about how to get away.
When did that stop?
