“Does your new special drink menu include an IV directly into my bloodstream by any chance?” Eddie asks as Steve turns the corner.
“If it did, we’d both be hooked up to drips by now,” Steve says, loading the coffee pot onto the warming stand and loading the small fridge beneath the counter with cartons of milk and cream. “I see you before I see the sun most days.”
“Is that a bad thing?” Eddie bends over the counter and Steve looks up, nearly colliding with Eddie’s chin.
Wild curls, warm eyes, toothy grin, minty toothpaste, woodsy cologne.
It’s enough to catch his breath, to weaken his knees, and he really can’t keep being stunned like this unless he plans on doing something very, very stupid.
Or, Steve's favorite customer at the coffee shop hosts a local early morning radio show. Between coffee and some of their favorite music, they might just fall in love.

“Why’re you here?” Steve doesn’t mean for it to come out so blunt, but the shock of seeing Eddie here is enough to startle any manners he has left right out of him. “I told you I’m sick.”
“Uh, yeah, exactly,” Eddie says in a duh sort of voice. “You’re sick. And you’re home alone. So I brought you flowers and soup and some other shit, and I’m going to stay here and take care of you.”
“I can take care of myself,” he protests, and is immediately thrown into a coughing fit so intense it doubles him right over.
“I’m sure you can, tough guy,” Eddie says, pressing a kiss to his cheek. Steve can feel the curve of his smile against his skin and leans into it with a sigh. “But maybe you don’t have to. Ever think of that?”

It’s too much, too much, the clothes on his back and the blankets around his hips and he tears at his collar; tries and tries and tries to get himself some fucking air, some fucking space, but his limbs aren’t working and his hands aren’t cooperating and he can’t-
He can’t-
He’s on his back.
He’s on his back and there’s a heavy weight on his thighs, his hips, his chest. There’s a hand around his throat, not squeezing, just holding, and fingers tangled with his, pressing him into the bed, pinning him in place and Eddie goes limp like a prey animal that’s been caught and breathes.

There's a new restaurant across from Eddie's game store - and that is just his newest problem.
Hot cuisine or whatever it's called isn't something he thought he needed in his life. He's more of a greasy cheeseburgers, cigarettes and dry cereal kinda guy. All things considered, the hip new place with its fancy food and its thriving social media account should stand for everything he hates.
Except the owner is making it really hard - pun intended.
Because Steve isn't a superficial, capitalist asshole. He's a nice guy with beautiful hair and great hands and a quirky sense of humor and great hands and a fantastic ass, and did Eddie mention the hands? For some reason, he can't stop staring at them, which is very unfortunate - especially since Steve seems to have made it his mission to introduce him to a more varied diet, and Eddie is developing some extremely inappropriate feelings related to food and cooking here.
Between burst pipes, DnD campaigns, annoying influencers, and the shiny new mall project that is threatening their neighborhood, it's all a lot to deal with, but he guesses he'll just have to suck it up - pun, again, very much intended.

Steve raises his eyebrows and cocks his head in disbelief.
“What? I didn’t!” Eddie exclaims, feigning indignation as he takes another sip from his ginger ale. “My best friend did and then she texted me,” he mumbles, smirking into his glass.
“I’m sorry, what was that?” Steve needles. “Didn’t quite catch that last bit.”
Eddie sighs, rolling his eyes. “I said my best friend did the googling and then sent me the results. So no, I truly did not actually google you. Besides, it’s awfully presumptuous of you to think that my uneasiness is related to anything other than my crippling fear of flying. Or maybe I just think you’re pretty. But in any case, nope. Did not google you.”
“Ah. Okay, I see. Makes complete sense,” Steve pauses as Katie sets their meal trays down on their tray tables. “So, you think I’m pretty, is that what I’m hearing?”
“Oh shut up. You know you are,” Eddie scoffs.

“Green,” comes the reply, so enthusiastically it makes Steve think they'll need to introduce an extra color, specifically for this occasion. “So very green, you have no- aaah, shit.”
Because Eddie has actually started bouncing on the balls of his feet, and the movement has tugged on the chain that’s still loosely grasped in Steve’s hand. Or, to be more specific, the nipple clamp that the chain is attached to.
