His Crest of Riegan isn't worth the way it burns through his body. It isn't worth the way it skitters beneath the surface of his skin. The itch it thrums through his blood during battle isn't worth the retching he's left with hours later.

Finally it stopped, and Ryuji stayed laying against the lamp post, afraid to move.
“I’m feeling a bit hungry,” Yusuke said when it was done. “Perhaps we should go somewhere to eat.”
“Yes,” Makoto agreed, brushing off her skirt as she recollected her personal image of calmness. “That sounds nice.” She glanced over, taking in the damage they’d done to Ryuji and feeling slightly guilty now that the haze of high emotions was coming down. “Um, Ryuji, are you coming?”
Ryuji looked up at them, breathing a bit heavy still. Gulping, he did his best to smile for them, not wanting to turn them down and risk more ire. “Uh, yeah, just… one sec.”
Moving one hand back to hold onto the lamp post, Ryuji tried to lift himself up, but as soon as he tried to put weight on his right leg, his knee buckled from pain and he fell back to his knees. A cry of pain slipped from Ryuji’s lips, and he stared down at the gravel digging into his knees, only making things worse.OR after Shido's palace collapsed, the girls' beat up on Ryuji had some unforeseen consequences.

Alfea seems to be full of secrets the Headmistress isn't telling anyone.

They all assumed it was based off of his brother’s death and his father’s reaction. And while that was the strong foundation upon which his hatred was built, it went deeper than that. Because knighthood and chivalry seemed to define all of the Fraldarius bloodline. And everything Felix learned built more upon his determination to defy it.
