If Laura Lee was being honest, she didn’t mind being dead.
At first.
All her life, she’d been told about Heaven and Hell and she’d dedicated her entire lifespan to praying and atoning for her sins. Basically, she was a Good Christian who went to church every Sunday.
Then when she died, she expected to be judged by God himself.
But that didn’t happen.
Instead, she was greeted by an angel who called himself Paul, showed to the mansion of her new house and told that this was the afterlife and that she could do anything she wanted for all of eternity.
It sounded akin to heaven right?

She'll be forced to exercise at 4 AM, and eat an absolute slop of an oatmeal dinner, and shower with like, twenty other people. She'll barely see her dad, never see her mom, Ilana will visit every other weekend-
"Ah ha! I found it!"
The relief that flooded Callie's system at those words could not be understated.

“Um,” Jackie starts and twists at the bottom of her shirt with her fingers. “My, uh, parents aren’t…” She swallows, throat bobbing. “I can’t go home,” she whispers. “And Shauna is mad at me and she needs space even- even if she won’t say it, I know and— and I don’t want her to feel obligated… I just— I can’t— I have nowhere to go.”
Nat blinks at her a few times before she sighs heavily. “Goddamnit, Taylor,” she mutters harshly before she looks at her, almost angrily. “Let’s go. I can’t leave you out here on your own and something happen to you. Shipman would kick my ass.”
Jackie smiles wobbly and reaches out, carefully, and curls her fingers into Nat’s sleeve. “Thank you,” she says softly, thankfully despite the small tear tracks on her face.
“Whatever,” Nat bites out, but doesn’t pull away from Jackie’s grip on her jacket.
