Another patient intervened, “Okay, okay. But weirdo with the scar has a point. Dr. Whitaker practically lives here. I always see him when I come back here. How’s a man like that got time for a spouse?"
Daniel tilted his head. Come to think of it, he always sees Dr. Whitaker working himself down to the bone.
And looking back at it, there was one person Whitaker seemed... different around. “Maybe,” Daniel said slowly, “he’s married to one of the doctors in here."

He rushes to the trash can; this morning’s breakfast (which is not much) comes up entirely. Dennis can hear commotion around him, and Princess and Perlah are talking to each other over the desk. Dana curses loudly, rushing to the boy’s side. “Hey, kiddo, you doing alright?”
“Woahhh…what’s happening right now? Whitaker? You alright?” Dennis can hear Dr. Robby’s voice now, next to him, not vomiting anymore--just spitting bile now. God, he feels like this the first shift all over again---maybe this is how Javadi felt minus the throw-up.
“Whitaker, I need you to answer me.”
When Dennis finally lifts his head from the trash can, almost all the staff have somehow stopped their work, watching him. They either cough awkwardly or just look away as his eyes finally find Robby’s own. There is some concern in his eyes, but the rest is stern and slightly grumpy.
Or: Dennis finds out some unexpected news---emphasis on the 'expecting' part.

Robby gently took the baby from Dennis’ arms and checked his breathing. “You did good, Denny, you did so good.”
“I did?” Dennis whispered.
“You did, baby.”
OR
Dennis gives birth alone in the ER bathroom but he didn’t even know he was pregnant with Robby’s baby. Robby, who pretends not to know Dennis after a one night stand months prior.

Summary
Something caused the entity to become unstable throwing some of the survivors and killers out of the dimension. Both Micheal and Danny got thrown out (both being able to not die and being bound to each other). It had been many generations since either had been to the main plane and when they were dumped back into it and they found zombies it took them a bit to get used to it all. The zombies completely ignored Danny since she wasn't really tangible (her shadows making her up and only Micheal could touch her no matter what).
Neither of them had problems taking out the dead but they weren't able to find a place that they could sit still and call home, between the dead breaking in and just overall not a lot of places being habitual for long periods of time they were left moving around gathering supplies. They had long since replaced their clothing since Danny was dumped out without her mask or normal gear (though she could summon it, it had been way too hot).

Dennis’ knee vibrates his backpack that rests against his shins in the dirty pick-up truck, Michael's warm and large hand covers his thigh. His thumb rubs soft circles on the inside, silently trying to comfort the younger man. It's too early in the morning to make conversation, and Dennis' anxieties are much higher than normal.
This isn’t like his normal rotations. This is the rotation that has been his biggest fear. Not only is everything so stressful but it is the rotation where he and Michael have to pretend to not know each other, and more.
