After a traumatic encounter with a far-too-familiar ghost in the bowels of Aickmere's Department Store, Lucy can't shake the feeling that she'll be the eventual cause of her husband's death. Leaving him might just save his life.

Summary
Lockwood has never been able to stop wondering if he adapted parts of his parents that weren't so obvious to him every time he looks in the mirror. He's never had anyone left to tell him he walks with a stride just like his father's or his lilt while he speaks is just like his mother's.
He's never been able to remember how his mother threw his head back in a laugh the same way he does or the way his father ran his hands through his hair in frustration, messing it up until it stood in spikes in the exact same way his son does. He doesn’t remember clearly enough to draw the comparison himself.
He’s walked around with pieces of his parents he no longer recognizes for seventeen years, none the wiser of where they came from. So it takes a while for it to sink in, that the reason the things he does for Lucy feel like déjà vu, is because they're all the ways he's seen his father love his mother.
or, 5 times Lockwood repeats acts of service for Lucy that he's seen his father do for his mother and the 1 time George finally gets peace from their pining (and some of Lockwood's vulnerability as well).

“Luce,” Lockwood murmured, before tilting his head and finally letting his lips slot against hers. As he angled Lucy's face up towards hers to deepen the kiss, he felt Lucy fall against him. She slumped forward, her body completely slack.
Lockwood jerked away, wrapping an arm around Lucy’s waist to support her. He hadn’t kissed anyone before, but he was certain this wasn’t how it was supposed to go.
“Luce,” he said urgently. “Are you okay?”
Lucy was silent, her body limp and unresponsive in his arms. She was clearly unconscious. Somehow, she had fainted—while he was still kissing her.

Virgil almost forgets how hot Roman's passion burns. The garden is full of ruby red roses, each one fully opened and perfect. Their petals are tender and soft, glowing from within, even during the daytime. He can feel the heat rippling off of them. Get too close, and Virgil would scorch his hands, and that would be so embarrassing.
"What happened to you?" people would ask. "How did you burn yourself?"
