Summary
Secret Service Dean Winchester’s life was complicated. One minute, he’s arresting a money-launderer and the next, he’s head of the Vice President’s security detail. Dean takes over his duties protecting Castiel Novak, the country’s first openly gay Vice President. He’d keep his attraction to himself, after all, it wasn’t like one of the most powerful men in the nation would want him.
Vice President Novak loved making a difference, but it took its toll on his personal life. The new Secret Service agent bound to protect him was a distraction he couldn’t afford. Over time, he found himself breaking protocol with the man paid to protect him with his life.

Castiel sighed inwardly. The morose drunks were always the hardest to gauge. Some wanted sympathy; some wanted to get angry; some wanted to be cheered up. Some just wanted to talk.
This guy wasn't sloppy-drunk, at least. Didn't seem particularly drunk at all, really, though in general hitting the whiskey at 6:30 on a Tuesday afternoon wasn't a good sign.
And anyway, Cas was perfectly willing to admit, if he had to play bartender-therapist, it's nice when his patron-patient's disgustingly attractive.

Summary
Crime is on the rise and as a prosecutor in San Francisco Sam is feeling the pressure from higher ups that are breathing down his neck to get more convictions. Captain Bobby Singer would love to catch more criminals especially with the brass threatening to have his badge but his current detectives are stretched thin and the new guys just aren't cutting it. The best detective with the highest case solving rate in San Francisco has been on leave since his former partner and best friend was brutally murdered by a car bomb years ago. The city needs Castiel Novak (and all his eccentricities) back in the field solving homicides nobody else can solve but until he hires an assistant there is no way he can leave his house let alone go to a crime scene.
Dean has recently been laid off and is looking for a new job. Sam and Bobby think the Dean would be perfect for the role of Novak's assistant.
Now, all they need to do is solve a few murders or it's everyone's job on the line.
