Alec suffers from side effects from parabatai-tracking Jace through the alternate dimension, everytime he sleeps, he sees and feels like he lives in a new dimension. In every dimension the same thing happens, and he wakes up immediately, he never sleeps longer than that, he barely gets any sleep.

Izzy looked over at Simons laptop and laughed. “Yes we definitely need to watch this. Come on Alec, and call Magnus, he has to see this too.”
Alec rolled his eyes. “Why? I don’t feel like watching stuff.”
“I don’t care, we have to watch it” said Izzy with a glimmer in her eyes that made Alec feel like this would not be a good idea at all. So when Clary said “Come on, it’ll be fun”, he definitely knew it was not gonna be ‘fun’.or the one where they all watch episode 12 "Malec" of Shadowhunters.

He opens up the browser, and it’s a faux pas to look at someone else’s browser history, it’s not like Chris doesn’t know that, but there’s only one way that Chris is ever going to know what his dad is thinking and doing, and that’s by snooping, because god forbid his dad actually communicate. The last thing on there is a soup recipe that they actually had for dinner a few days ago. It was good, even if it took forever. What catches Chris’ eye, though, is the website name. Eating with Eddie. How embarrassing to choose a recipe just because you have the same name as the blog owner. What a dad move.
---Eddie moves to El Paso, which is what it is. Chris might not be sure how he feels about it at first, but he finds a couple of different recipe blogs that make him rethink. Or, Eddie and Chris in Texas, told through the medium of recipes.
