Summary
In this AU, Voldemort never returned having died after trying to kill Harry & his parents. Luckily, all three survived with only very minor injuries.
At age 11, Harry starts Hogwarts just like his parents did and quickly becomes friends with Hermione and Ron, along with a large number of other students.
During their last year at aged 17, Dumbledore announces on the first day back that there is a Soulmate Ritual to be done the following day for the 7th years, which consists of them casting a Connection spell on themselves, before a random item in a colour related to that person's House appears somewhere on their arms. The colour darkens whenever they are close to each other.
What Dumbledore doesn't tell them, is that the Ritual causes Soulmates to be drawn to each other as soon as the spell has been cast.
On completing her Connection spell, Hermione received two small emerald green grass serpents twisting around each of her wrists. Why did she get two snakes, and why does her Soulmate have to have a connection to Slytherin?

Even nude he was incredibly menacing, Hermione made note of this in her head and grabbed a bottle of herbal shampoo to distract her anxious hands.

Summary
The blackouts are getting worse.
They aren't dangerous, in the long run, just strange. Strange because they only ever happen when Shane is at home; never on the road, at the rink, or even when in public.
His blackouts only ever happen in his condo.
Shane doesn't even realize something is happening at first. He'll get home after practice or a game, exhausted, and the second the front door closes behind him something in his body loosens. A warmth spreads through him and his thoughts will go fuzzy at the edges. His inner omega will start purring low and smug in the back of his mind.
Nest, it says.
Once the thought hits, the urge becomes almost unbearable. He usually makes it to the bedroom before the rest hits. Shane will crawl into bed still half dressed, burrowing instinctively into the blankets, dragging pillows close against his chest while warmth floods his body in thick, heavy waves. His painfully organized nest will become messy, Shane digging around until the chaotic placements feels perfect.
