This is all perfectly applicable to friendship. Friendships require effort. Intentionality. Sometimes you have to watch a minute long Instagram video about attracting men to figure out how to get your male best friend to come back to your house and fall asleep on your couch again. Or in your bed. Either one.
Whatever Buck's comfortable with. Eddie's not picky.
Eddie will take whatever proximity Buck is willing to offer and be grateful for it, and if that sounds desperate then fine, it's a little desperate, but it's friend-desperate, which is a completely different thing than regular desperate.
He replays the video and takes mental notes, formulating a plan that is simple: get Buck's attention. Spend more time with Buck. Stop feeling like his ribcage has been hollowed out with a melon baller every time he goes forty-eight hours without hearing Buck laugh.

Summary
Jim deals with his crush on Spock throughout the course of a few days.
The door slides open to darkness punctuated only by the glow of distant suns and nebulae. Jim steps inside, letting the door close behind him before making his way to the wide viewport. His reflection stares back at him, ghostly and transparent against the backdrop of space.
"I'm being ridiculous," he tells his reflection quietly.
The stars offer no argument. They just continue their silent vigil, cold and beautiful and utterly indifferent to the pain of one human heart.
Jim presses his palm against the transparent aluminum, feeling the chill seep into his skin. It’s a familiar cold, and briefly he’s transported back to the day almost two years ago where he died. Hand pressed against the glass as Spock mirrored him, and everything he wanted to say died on his lips.

These were the saturated blue of the sky in that precise moment before dawn, when the first rays of light scattered through the thin atmosphere and turned the horizon into something that might be called—if one were given to such terminology—breathtaking.
On Vulcan, such a color did not exist in the eyes of its people. Brown in infinite variations, from amber to near-black, but never blue. At the Academy, Spock had encountered many humans with blue eyes. He had catalogued the variation as an expected genetic diversity, nothing more.

Six pairs of eyes whip towards the Blue Paladin, varying from disappointed to scared to furious. For a moment Lance’s expression is open, shocked, deer-in-headlights, and then it shutters, replaced with something determined and endlessly, endlessly stubborn.
“I’m fine,” he insists. “If anyone comes any closer I’m going to throw a hissy fit.”
“You’re already throwing a hissy fit,” Allura points out. “When normal people are injured, they just get treated.”
Lance sets his jaw. “I’m already treated.”
Keith scowls. “Well, obviously not, because you’re hurt. Dickhead.” He reaches forward and tugs on Lance’s jacket, clearly meaning to take it off to assess further damage, but Lance hisses at him, snapping his jaw.
“Are you a fucking scorned chihuahua?” Keith demands, snatching his hand back.
“Put your hands on me again and find out.”

Buck squints blearily at him. “What?”
A muscle in his jaw twitches once. Twice. The muted light illuminates the quiet movement of his throat as he swallows.
“What’d you just say?”
“Get home safe,” Buck repeats, a yawn overtaking the last word. “Why…?”

When Mike looks at him that way, Harvey usually insults him until his expression hardens once more. But tonight he allows his mind to wander, to imagine those eyes and a teasing smile next to him in his condo, a warm hand wrapping around his own.

Buck watches Tommy walk away and he feels… Huh. He’s not sure exactly how he feels, honestly.
Happy? Relieved?
His lips still tingle with the memory of it, the pressure left by Tommy’s kiss. He’s frozen on the spot, right where Tommy left him. He laughs, the quiet sound echoing through his empty apartment. He knows Tommy had to go, had to work, but Buck stands there, watching the spot where he’d just walked out, and he wishes he’d reached for him. Pulled him back in for another kiss, more than just a faint brush of lips, more than a question.
He wants to wrap his arms around Tommy’s shoulders, pull him close, lick into his mouth.
Shit, the things he wants to do.
And it’s all new, it’s strange and different and wonderful, because when Tommy kissed him, he felt stubble scratch against his own, and Tommy’s fingers tilted his face up, not down, and even though Buck hadn’t quite managed to set his hand down, hovering it over Tommy’s shoulder in his surprise, he knows what he’d find there—broad shoulders, muscled back, so unlike anything Buck’s known before.
But he’d wanted it.
He wants it.
