Three months after his existence was erased, Peter Parker was not doing so well. His solace came from knowing that at the very least he had managed to save his city in the end.
Apparently, though, Peter realized as Doctor Strange explained to him that he had to give up even more, losing everything-and-then-some just wasn't enough.
OR
The multiverse continues to collapse in on itself. Doctor Strange discovers the source of the problem as Peter Parker. The only viable solution is to remove Peter from his original universe so that no more entities will be drawn to his presence there.
Peter is sent to a world that lost its Peter Parker, and finds himself lost in a sea of people he'd grieved who had all grieved him in kind.

Peter Parker was never an only child.
He had a twin.
Denise Parker had been beside him from the very beginning. They did everything together: school, hobbies, the Decathlon team, even the fateful field trip where they were both bitten by spiders, except only Peter came out of it with powers and, somehow, asthma-free.
And then No Way Home happened.
Aunt May died and Denise died also buried beneath the ruins of Happy Hogan's apartment.
And Peter asked Doctor Strange to make the entire world forget Peter Parker.
Four years later, nobody remembers him. Not MJ. Not Ned. Not Happy. Not anyone who once called him family.
Spider-Man survived. Peter Parker did not.
So Spider-Man keeps going, keeps saving people, and keeps trying to fix everyone except himself.
Until a string of attacks on Damage Control begins uncovering things that were supposed to stay buried.
Because Peter Parker had a twin sister.
And the last thing Denise ever told him was:
“We’re going to fix this.”
Four years later, Peter is about to discover that perhaps she meant it.

His constant secret keeping, lying, and sneaking out because of his alter ego has kept him from staying in a home for too long, but he refuses to give up the vigilanteism (that's a word, right?) At this point, he's given up hope on ever finding a forever home.
Tony Stark never expected to get so attached to his young new intern, Peter Parker. But when he finds out that the kid is moving foster homes too far away for him to keep up the internship, he takes matters into his own hands. He soon finds out, though, that housing Peter Parker is a lot harder than mentoring him.
