This couldn't be happening. This had to be some horrible hallucination induced by the myriad of drugs forced into his system before the round. This wasn't real. No, please God, don't let this be real.
Till squeezed his eyes shut and took a stuttering breath. Silence. Eerie silence.
Why was it so quiet? Why had no sentinels come to put Till's collar back on and drag him away? Why was Ivan's lifeless body still here and not tossed in a pile somewhere with all the others who had been executed for the aliens' entertainment?
That had to mean this wasn't real, right?
But, Till could still feel the phantom of fingers around his throat, the ghost of desperate lips against his own, and when he opened his eyes again, he still saw pure white stained with crimson red, the sacred corrupted.
Ivan and Till are rescued after their round. Till must navigate the confusing feelings he's faced with in the aftermath.

Summary
Till is afraid that he has officially broken Ivan, until he says: "Let's do it. You and me." The amount of anticipation in Ivan's tone takes Till by surprise. "I just said you don't have to do it with me-"
"But I want to. I want it to be you." Ivan interrupts, cutting Till off.
Till scratches his neck, saying "Okay. Well, I don't want this to ruin our friendship or anything. I just want you to know I'm not doing this 'cause I'm gay for you or anything."
Till offers to pose as Ivan's own fake boyfriend to ward off people who desperately try to worm themselves into Ivan's life. It's just what best buds do for each other, right?

Summary
This always happens to Ivan. He felt suffocated around Till because of love and jealousy. He felt love towards Till; that was obvious enough. But, jealousy, even if Mizi wasn't here, always made the black-haired man feel as if Till's thoughts constantly wandered off to think about her.
"If you're going to choke yourself, don't do it in front of me," Till's voice cut through the silence, his sharp eyes tracking the movement of Ivan's fingers against the black fabric of the taller man's sweater.
Ivan snapped out of his thoughts, delayed on responding to Till for a few seconds before his expression softened, and then he replied to the shorter man's words in a teasing tone as always, "Always so concerned about me, Till. I'm quite flattered."

Did he ever really feel happy?
I think so.
I think he felt happy when we'd sit under that tree together and draw. When things were finally quiet and no one was looking at him. He'd stop smiling and the look in his eyes would go from determination to something more akin to curiosity. He'd touch my hand and I would mess something up. I'd nag at him but he'd just stare at me with that same expression. Like he was just trying to understand.
I think Ivan spent his entire life trying to learn how to be human. So much so that he never really had time to figure it out.
