"No. I want to stay here with you," he confessed, not meeting Skywarp’s optics. Skywarp wanted nothing more than for Thundercracker to look at him, to say I was wrong, let’s go back to bed and forget this, but he would never. It was already beginning; Starscream had given his commands. Finally, when every doomed mechanism in the room had been adorned for their funeral, Thundercracker finally looked at him. His red optics glowed hotly out from between the bloody lines on his face. He was already dead.
"But I will lead them into battle nonetheless."

It's only partially Skywarp's fault that this is happening, but it's fully his job to fix it. Not just because he has to, but because he wants to. And if that means going to the edge of the universe for this idiot, then so be it.
It's his Conjunx Endura whose life needs saving, after all.

It’s a daunting thing to wear a new body. Even for a Cybertronian.
But Starscream isn’t scared. He can’t be. He refuses. He’s done this a million times before, walked the worlds in more bodies that he can count, each one itchier and stranger feeling than the last.
(Maybe that’s what’s so unsettling about it. No matter what he does, no matter which wings or what color armor or where each new plate attaches, there’s never been a frame that doesn’t feel wrong. That doesn’t give him that icky, sickly sensation of having been built. That he knows he’s incorrect. Or maybe that’s the internalized functionism talking.)

Post-Unicron, Skywarp receives a curious invite from his long-lost pseudo-trineleader. Frankly, he doesn't want to get involved in the drama with Starscream and his new girl (the existence of which is news to Skywarp), but they're "trine," which means he has no choice.
Unfortunately, neither does Thundercracker.
Dealing with an anxious Starscream and his surprise new fiancé? Easy. Being in close quarters with the ex he so violently broke it off with ten Earth years ago, and most definitely, certainly wants nothing more to do with ever again? Not so much.
Really guys, Skywarp is totally over him. Yeah. Really.

Skywarp has become solemn, Starscream unstable, and Thundercracker incurably melancholic. He awaits a change, even a momentary recuse from the hopeless that has seized his spark. The High Guard are directionless, and desperately need somebody to take the reins and lead them to victory.
Let Primus deliver a beaten-down people to the promised land. Let him send a king to carry them to Heaven. Let him hear the pleas of a defeated mechanism, and lift him and his free of sorrow.

Unfortunately, his fractured sparkbond doesn’t seem to be helping, especially when the culprit - and his two trinemates - reappear back into his life.
