Summary
Once upon a time, life was perfect for Agatha and Rio Harkness-Vidal. In their early thirties, they both had thriving careers and a home life that was made immaculate with the arrival of their son, Nicholas.
Four months after his birth and after the recruitment of a nanny, Rio arrives home to an empty house and no trace of her son or the nanny.
What first seemed hopeful carries on for twenty-five very long years until suddenly, the unthinkable happens.
In The Big Apple, a mere car ride away from the Harkness-Vidal home in Newark, a twenty-five year old physical therapist who has always wondered about his mother's avoidance about his other parent decides to take an ancestry test. His girlfriend bought it for him for his birthday and, well, if his mother won't provide answers to his questions, he'll get them on his own.
When his sample flags as a match to a two-and-a-half decade old DNA sample from a missing person's case, he gets far more of them than he ever could have imagined.

Red began to taint Rio’s skin. “I’ve been looking for our mission target.” Rio leaned in closer, her face inches away from Agatha’s, “Whilst you’ve been…what? Playing catch up with friends.”
Agatha smirked.
“Something funny?” Rio asked, her breath hot against Agatha’s face.
Or: The Smith's Programme, the only programme in the FBI that forces you to marry a complete and utter stranger whom you must complete top-secret missions with. As soon as the two women lay eyes on each other, it is clear Rio Vidal and Agatha Harkness are attracted to one another. But is it just that, or will they inevitably fall in love? Time will tell.

Nothing outright concerning, nothing obviously criminal. And then, last on the list, making the vein in Rio’s forehead pulse uncomfortably: fbi agent rio vidal.
Rio watches in muted horror as Agatha finds her Instagram page, opens it, and scrolls aimlessly. She clicks on Rio’s pictures from her college roommate’s wedding in Miami. She spends about two minutes staring at a picture of Rio in a bikini on the beach, holding a strawberry daiquiri. Then, she takes a screenshot.
Rio bangs her forehead against her desk and groans.
or: the rumors are true and there is an fbi agent in agatha harkness’ phone. unfortunately, that fbi agent is rio vidal, and unfortunately for rio vidal, agatha is not going to let her off easy.
