“Yes. I need a bodyguard and someone who can be with me at all times. J.J. and Hayden are good but they aren’t always around. I’m uh, a big target for people around here, especially from Toronto and then New York is also becoming unhappy with me. I visit lots of people, and I need the protection and the help”
“What is happening in Toronto?”
“My “competitor” Dallas Kent is not happy with how powerful we are getting. Wants me dead.” he explained, not sounding particularly scared of this Dallas Kent.
“You do not think he is a threat?” he asked.
“I don’t think he’s a competitor. A threat? Maybe. I got attacked the other week, shot in the shoulder, it made Hayden and J.J. worry.”
“Ah so you want me to take bullets for you?”
“No. I want you to kill them before they get the chance.” Shane said

“What are you doing?” Shane asked, glaring at him.
“Was going to have some.” Ilya said, feeling confused as to why Shane even needed to ask.
“Of the food I got? No. If you want to eat you get it yourself.” Shane said. Ilya stared at him, wondering if this was some kind of joke but based on the way Shane glared at him it clearly wasn’t. Ilya huffed and sat down again where he had been sleeping.
Four days passed and no one came for Ilya. No boat, or plane or anything indicating he was going to be rescued. Shane also had not let Ilya eat. He’d tried again but he was always met with the same, “If you want it get it yourself.” He’d learnt that the meat was chicken and tonight there was one still clucking in a wooden cage that had clearly been hand crafted.
“Please. I am hungry.” Ilya tried Shane just kept eating his own meat. His stomach roared at him and he felt it clench.
“Then go and find food. You’re not eating mine.” he said, his voice harsh as he sucked more chicken off the bone.
Or Ilya Rozanov was partying on a yacht in the Mediterranean Sea when a storm tossed him onto an island with a mysterious man who happened to have beautiful freckles.

Summary
Two years after Shane and Ilya announce their friendship and launch their charity together Shane finally reaches breaking point when the Metros make it very clear they will never stop hating Ilya. Shane decides it time for a change and leaves the Metros along with making other changes in his life starting with removing his mother as his manager because he wants things that don't align with what she has planned out for him. Shane loses friends and makes new ones while also realising plans can always change. Ilya finally tells Shane about his own mental health struggles that Shane never knew about.

Two years of listening to his team-mates berate and insult Ilya every single time Shane was in the locker room for a game or practise had finally come to the point where Shane was sick of listening to it every day. Shane knew that Hayden hated Ilya but seeing his best friend join in with their team-mates and bond over their hatred of Ilya Rozanov made Shane wonder if Hayden had ever been a true friend at all.

Scott Hunter is 25 years old, Captain of the New York Admirals, and privately, achingly, gay. He meets Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov at the 2009 MLH draft day, and everyone involved immediately gets several wrong ideas. For the next three years, Scott has to navigate his place as a closeted gay man in the spotlight of major league hockey, while trying to protect an oblivious baby queer from an obviously straight Russian menace who can't seem to stay away.
