But no matter how much air he pulls in, there's a boot on his sternum, pressing and pressing, pushing his ribs into vertebrae.
He keeps hitting. Over and over, willing for the pain to dig deeper and deeper and deeper.
(It’s in there. The thing that’s wrong with him. It has to be.)
The punching isn’t enough. It’ll never be enough.
(It won't stop, why won't it stop? )
Robin. Arkham. Halloween. Always something to stop it, to rip out the filth lodged inside him, but no matter what, he’s still here. He survives. Like a cockroach.

He hears them squeak as they go by.
He cranes his neck, dragging himself out of the sticky mess of his own blood, mucus, and vomit.
The effort drains what little energy he has left.
A family of mice scuttles past. At first, his sticky, cobwebbed mind can't make sense of it. He blinks away the gunk in his eyes and stares.
They're tiny, fluffy gray things—mice. The mother leads the way, her three children trailing behind, holding on to each other tails-like plush toys on a string-as they dart around the room’s corners, squeaking. Too new, too naive to understand the danger of noise.
They’re local rats, the kind that would’ve given Alfred a heart attack. Ridiculous, delicate creatures.
They make something pinch inside his chest. It’s a strange thing, dissimilar to the hollow that fills his ribs, almost- warm.

Summary
Jason and Roy weren't friends by any means, Jason had made that abundantly clear. He didn't have a reason to dig in the barb -that was Jason.
( The words he wrapped around himself like barbed wire-uncaring of how he cut himself on it trying to keep away anyone who'd stray close enough.)
Jason had been missing for a month-they had hunted-God they had-but there was only so much two people could do for an organization that was spread across nine countries. They wanted Jason's DNA, from what they could gather, something about Titan and Venom and the fact that Jason had the tendency to survive events that would've left a normal person (See: Roy) dead two times over.
But if they had succeeded in isolating the serum from Jason's DNA-
He doesn't want to think about the state Jason's corpse might be in.
(In pieces, preserved forever in formalin-all seeing-unseeing- trapped-Jason hated being trapped.)

"Please don't go-please-I'm sorry- don't leave me here"-
The words tumble out between ragged breaths. 'Please-" He clings to his suit with feeble, shaky hands- he can see the yellowish pallor of Jason's skin under the street lights-there's something sticky smeared across his mouth-"please-", every muscle in him cringes in repulsion at the sad state of the man responsible for more than a hundred civilian casualties.
(There's another part of him- under layers upon layer of hurt-grief-betrayal and What-could-have-been. It makes his heart twist and turn and want to crawl out of his chest to his little, hurting civilian brother.)
He steels himself.
“Let go, Jason,” he says, the voice comes out sharper than intended. He doesn't care. The last thing he wants to do is drag his Dad's and grandfather's murderer home wash the vomit off his face and tuck him into bed.

Summary
“Brother, why...?”
The question passed Jun-ho’s lips in a plea, needing his brother to explain how he could be involved in something so heinous. His gun slipping from lax fingers, and tears blurring his vision as he waited on a reply, searching his brother's face for any hints of remorse or conflict.
In response, In-ho lifted a gun and fired.
The bullet ripped into his shoulder, the impact causing Jun-ho to stagger back, heedless of the drop behind him. He could not tear his eyes away from the stranger who wore his brother's face, expression cold and remote. For all that In-ho had removed his mask, his brother's face might as well have been carved from stone.
The ground fell away from under him, but Jun-ho was beyond caring. He let gravity take him to the cold sea below, leaving his heart - shattered and broken - at the cliff edge.
Or, the AU where Hwang In-ho collects his little brother from the water before returning to the island.

In so many Jason Comes Back fics, whenever he reveals his identity, there’s always the beat of recognition and the soft “Jason” leaving Tim/Dick/Bruce/Alfred’s lips.
I decided to go for a more... realistic take on what would actually happen if the batfam came into contact with a flesh-and-blood live corpse of their dead brother/son.
OR
The batfam see an alive Jason Todd and flip the fuck out and think he's a demon.
