It was finally time for Shouta to take Eri home. He definitely wasn't panicking. Not at all.
He stood up and held a hand out to walk her to her room, but she lifted both arms up in the way Shouta had seen kids do when they wanted their parents to lift them up. She wanted to be picked up? By him? He glanced at Hizashi, who just nodded toward the girl with a wide smile. Was it okay for him to pick her up? What if he hurt her or dropped her? She was so small she could break.
Shouta, Hizashi, and Eri navigate their first night as a new family.

Shōta looks oddly touched at that, which is crazy because of course Hizashi trusts him. He’s been coming to him for repairs for years, has had to endure him slitting his throat and gouging his eyes out and sticking tweezers deep into his ears since he was fifteen years old. Shōta’s hand has always been steady.

Summary
