It isn't until the eve of their wedding when Bilbo discovers that what held Thorin back wasn't the tiny hobbit, after all, but something even tinier. Luckily for Thorin, Bilbo loves small things.

Bilbo doesn’t know who’s name is on his wrist. He at least knows it’s Khuzdul, but he still can’t *read* Khuzdul. After his 50th birthday, Bilbo decides to go run off to whatever Dwarven city he can to try and find his soulmate, not like he’s getting any younger anyways.
Thorin is stressed under kingly duties, and on top of that the council is on his ass about finding his soulmate. Just another stressor on top of all his duties and dealing with the princes… He really needs another advisor to take something off his shoulders.

It seemed horribly symbolic of his life.
Headed to Greenwood to see the healer Thranduil, Bilbo Baggins and Gandalf the Grey hitch a ride with thirteen dwarves headed to Erebor.
Bilbo had hoped it would be like the adventures he read. That there would be orcs, sword fights, torture, revenge, trolls, chases, or escapes.
He had never expected miracles or true love.
