All go unanswered. He brings the blade to his thigh. He cuts. The blood starts to drip down his thigh. Usually he doesn't like messes. Then again, This isn't a "usual situation." His heart ached at the knowledge he lacked the turtles most defining feature, a hard shell. A hard shell that was meant to protect a turtle, something his brothers gained naturally while he had to work for it.
Feeling tears well in his eyes, Donnie clenched his teeth to not let himself cry, the pain in his shell only seemed to increase. Maybe he deserved this, for being weaker. How could he expect to protect his brothers if he couldn’t even protect himself?--or--
Days after a mission gone wrong, Donnie still bears the consequences, drowning in his own doubts and fears. Luckily, he has 3 brothers who will always be there when he needs them most. The only question remains, will Donnie let them in, or shut them out?

The image of the buzzsaw flashed in Donnie’s head. The way it scraped and scraped against his plastron, when the uncomfortable fear turned into actual, blinding agony-
“Yeah,” Donnie said. One hand moved to cover the scratch, but Leo, as always, moved faster and snagged his wrist. “But I’ve been patching myself up, I don’t need your help.”
I don’t deserve your help, he did not say. Because they all knew, deep down, that Donatello provided a few useful gizmos, but it was outweighed by his constant mistakes and misadventures. All his brothers knew it, he didn’t have to say so.

After the events of Smart Lair, where Donnie has been hurt, he tries to hide in the bathroom and handle everything himself.

Donatello Hamato knew he was the weak link, an ugly mark on his family's portrait. It's why he pours himself into his technology; he provides, so they keep him around. They don't need him, they need his creations, his projects, yet he needs them desperately. He loves his family more than life itself. He'll do anything, hide anything, to stay with them and preserve their happiness. Or at least that was the plan before his mystic powers began manifesting in unexpected (and pretty annoying) ways.
He just needs to hold it together; following a path of unpredictable destruction is worth the love of his brothers and he'll come out the other side just fine.

Summary
It came at him again, all teeth and claw, and Crosshair dodged to the side. It followed, readjusting easily, and collided with him. Clawed hands came down on his shoulders, momentum carrying them both to the floor. A back foot planted itself on his shin, pinning his leg down. Claw tips dug into his skin, but Crosshair ignored it for the moment. He was too busy pushing against the thing’s chest and neck, trying to keep the gnashing teeth away from his throat.
