Summary
The silence of the early morning hung heavily over the home, interrupted only by the rustling of trembling hands rummaging through drawers. Kevin knew he did not have to do this alone, but the thought of bothering the ones he loved sounded more hard than just deal with the cramps tearing through his abdomen.
He had been through this countless times. He knew what he needed to do, knew this time he could ask for help—but he also was used to carry the weight of discomfort without letting anyone notice. It was easier that way. Or at least, it was supposed to be.
But when nothing revealed itself on the last empty shelf, he realized that this time, his determination wouldn't be enough.
And then, a soft voice broke the silence.
"Kevin?"
And with a single word, his plan to face it all alone crumbled.

Summary
Everyone has a secret. Including Mike Wheeler, who finds himself stuck reliving his best friend Will Byers' coming out. Why does his chest feel so tight when he thinks about it? Why couldn't he just get over himself? The party begins their climb to the Abyss and while the threat of Vecna and the evils above loom over them, so does Mike's secret.
While Will Byers grapples with his newfound powers and the responsibility of defending the party, he's still left with the guilt of letting Vecna take those kids, and the knowledge that he created those tunnels in Hawkins. And on top of that, he's trying to get over his best friend (who is definitely his Tammy. Right?) while protecting his friends and family from the demos that come for them in the endless tunnel system that is the Abyss.
Or: a finale rewrite that reimagines the Abyss, the mind flayer, and the final battle while leaving room for my favorite ship.

Summary
Now, someone walked into the room. A boy, awkwardly standing at the side of his bed, looking over him worriedly. His hair was brown and scruffy, and he had big baby doe eyes and a yellow-and-blue horizontally-striped shirt like a cartoon character. The window was lighting him up like he was important to Mike’s narrative. The curtains are blue, thought Mike, this boy is light. I love metaphors. Maybe he was high on the pain meds. Upon seeing him, Mike felt a great affection, a great peace. Plus, he had long eyelashes. Mike almost giggled to himself. He was definitely a little high.
“Hi.” breathed Mike.
“Hi.” he said, hesitating.
“We’re friends?” Mike asked hopefully.
Or: During the Party's final battle with Vecna, Mike is gravely injured and loses his memories. He wakes up in a hospital only remembering a handful of inconsequential little things, like how much he loves a boy who seems like light.
