Summary
Lady Figaro is surprised to find a handsome, mature man among her son's comrades. Drawing from her skills as a hostess and her experience as a widow, she devises an evening to pull the grief-stricken Cyan out of his shell. They are drawn to each other in ways neither expected, but the haunting memories of his recent loss cast a gloom over their blossoming relationship.
While this story is primarily about Cyan, it's also a tribute to the character that Crystale Figaro could have been. Too many women in FFVI were lost to the background of the narrative - particularly mothers. What if these women were included in the story? How would their lives have touched the world around them?
I'm aware of Figaro no Kekkon, but only enough to know I probably got the name 'Crystale' wrong. Please consider my Crystale as an original character. In my head her name is pronounced with a soft 'a', such that it rhymes with 'Gestahl'. For some reason I think it's important and that you, the reader, should do the same.
