Nobody would have believed, in the beginning of the 21st Century, that human affairs were being watched keenly and closely by intelligences immeasurably superior, yet just as mortal, as their own: that as man busied themselves about their affairs, they were being studied and scrutinised, as one might study and scrutinise microbes that swarm and multiply in a drop of water.
With infinite complacency, Andres and Martin went about their typical thieving affairs, planning out a heist that seemed so small and unimportant now, comfortable in their assurance of their power over humans and matter. They gave no thought to old, dead worlds as any sign of danger, dismissing all thoughts of the probability of any life on them, certainly anything nearly as advanced as humanity.
Yet across the gulf of space, minds to a human’s mind, as a human’s was to animals they hunt and slaughter, intellects vast and cold and unsympathetic, regarded this Earth with envious eyes, and slowly and surely, they drew their plans against them.

Summary
Even as Sergio stood outside the doors to the monastery, he knew, somehow, that this was a terrible idea. Sure, he felt that way most of the time he had to see his brother and Martín - his brother was… unique, passionate, overly passionate, delusional rather, with a lack of ability to think things through, and Martín, well, he was the exact same, though made the effort to not think things through rather than lacking the skill. They were like a lighter and a keg; you simply had to pray you wouldn't be caught in the explosion.
And Sergio… often got caught in it.

Summary
Ever since his god-forsaken diagnosis, Andres had been preparing for his death.
With the timer ticking down, as seconds turn to minutes turn to hours turn to days, he had to make the best use of his time, to prepare for the inevitable.
You see, there weren’t many things that Andres could control in his life, not after being given a death sentence. He couldn’t control his whore of a wife or his traitorous son, he couldn’t control the time that was quickly passing, and slowly but surely he started to lose control of his muscles, unable to stop the shaking without taking medication for it.
Death was the only thing that he could twist and mould into exactly what he wanted - something to be remembered, to be immortalised. A masterpiece, one might consider.
A man like him did not deserve to be mourned - but that did not mean he couldn’t be immortalised.
