It's an apartment better than he could've asked for, and one of the few that allows pets. Perfect for him and his little, lovely, darling Leo. The residents seem kind as well when they first add him to the apartment building's groupchat. That was, of course, until his ex-boyfriend (and current co-parent to the most adorable puppy on the planet!) is suddenly typing in the chat.
It is quite classic for him, he supposed, to cause chaos on his first day.

Max doesn’t know how Lando managed to drag him to this party in one of the most expensive hotels in Amsterdam, and where he had to wear silly animal masks, but he won’t certainly complain now. Not when the hottie with green eyes and the wolf mask is looking at Max like he is prey, and Max is two seconds away from presenting himself on a golden plate for him. His own fox mask is a little crooked to the side, where the man’s hand is placed on his neck as he leans into him, his hot breath ghosts over his ear.
“How drunk are you?” he asks.
“Just tipsy,” Max says. “But enough to not feel ashamed when I say that I want you to fuck me.”

He doesn’t really know how he ended up he ended up in Max's driver's room after he crashed out at the first corner on lap one, but as he buries his face into Petit Lion’s mane, he finds that he doesn’t really care.
He remembers getting out of the wreck that had become of his Ferrari. He remembers getting a ride from the medical car. He remembers stopping by the Ferrari hospitality, and then getting dismissed quickly because there wasn’t much race to debrief over. He remembers going to his driver’s room to curl up with a warm, soft blanket and Petit Lion. He remembers feeling unsettled in his little trackside nest.
Petit Lion has stopped smelling like Max.
Charles is halfway to the Red Bull motorhome—wrapped in a blanket, and holding Petit Lion tight to his chest—before he realises what he’s doing. He stops in the middle of the paddock. Is he really going to break into Max’s driver’s room to steal something?
Pierre used to steal things for Charles all of the time. Yuki still steals Max’s items for Charles. Max must know that Charles is getting his items at the end of the day, surely Max wouldn’t mind if they cut out the middleman.

Because of that, Charles Leclerc has been hiding as a beta since he first presented as an omega-until a breakthrough heat destroys how hard he's worked and reveals his designation.
Ferrari, facing a major loss in sponsorship money, offer him a choice: leave Ferrari and motorsport forever, or agree to an invite only auction for the rights to mate him, with proceeds filling the hole in the budget.
Charles comes up with a plan to save himself, get an alpha he trusts, get Ferrari's money back, and keep his seat.
Unfortunately, Max Verstappen comes up with a plan, too.

So really, it was just his luck that the universe decided to pluck out Max’s heart and place it firmly in the palm of the loveliest Alpha to ever exist. It was inevitable.
The day Max met sweet-faced, doe-eyed Charles Leclerc with his soft pink lips and deceptively innocent smile that could quickly twist into an expression of utter rage and fury, the Dutchman was a goner.
(Or, confident Omega Max falls in love with insecure Alpha Charles and decides the only remedy is to smother his pretty, dramatic Alpha with all the love in the world.)
