Alinora Sorrengail never wanted much out of life. She never had lofty aspirations of being a Rider, like her siblings, or even of being a scribe, like her twin. She just wanted to do her time and get on with her life. Her mother had other ideas. Now she's in the Rider's Quadrant with her sister, facing down dangers she never thought she would have to weather, and all she can do is hope that they both make it out alive. Things only get more complicated when she discovers just who they will both have to place their trust in, the son of the man their mother murdered. This won't complicate things at all.

Eventually, another Sam, one that cared about him much more than the US Government ever had, kicked him in the ass and got him moving. That's how he ended up here, behind the counter of his own little bakery, right in the heart of his old neighborhood. That's also how he met his other best friend, Cassidy, his sunshine. If it wasn't for Jon's insistence and Nessa's growing fatigue, he wouldn't have stopped at all. It's bad enough they've been asked to travel with Jon, still recovering from the throes of their heat. Martin would have said no outright – Her Majesty be damned – if Jon weren't so insistent that they could be back in time before it's time to nest. He didn't entirely believe them, but saying no to a direct order could mean even more trouble for them both. And after spending weeks tending to his mate, laid up in bed, and the sofa, and the floor, and that awful little chair in Jon's study that creaks with every movement…
They were both feeling a little stir-crazy. A bit of fresh air couldn't hurt. And Jon has mostly returned to their right mind…mostly.
