When his mom asked if they'd be willing to do some interviews together, as a couple, outside of the arena, Shane thought it was about time he said yes. His mom had promised they would keep it small. No brands. No big exposé. Low pressure.
Reading "Thirst Tweets" in a room with 30 cameras pointed at him hadn't exactly been what Shane was expecting. Which was clear from how red his face was in the video his mom had just sent over to them. Ilya, on the other hand, was smiling wide beside him, eyes bright as he read from the card in his hand.

This is yours.”
“I’ve never used it, so it can be your mug now.”
Ilya had nodded slowly, setting the offending object on the bedside table carefully, eyes flashing as he watched Shane do the same- okay, Hollander- before pouncing on him, pressing him into the mattress.

After being forced into an early retirement from the NHL due to debilitating mental health issues, Shane Hollander moves back to Ottawa in an attempt to rebuild his crumbling life. Two years later, at the age of 23, he's an ice rink manager and only slightly less miserable than before.
Shane can never go back to the NHL, but he yearns to skate again. If he's going to play hockey for himself, he's going to have to confront his anxiety holding him down- and that might be a harder challenge than winning a Stanley Cup.
And the cherry on top? He is in love with his obnoxious Russian assistant manager.///Or Shane becomes an ice rink manager and falls in love with hockey all over again.
