At first Severus thinks that the smudges of green and blue around his ankle are some sort of strange bruise. It looks like someone has wrapped their hand around his ankle and refused to let go. He rubs at it absently, but it doesn’t hurt the way bruises usually do.
After a week it hasn’t faded the way a bruise should, though the colors have been subtly shifting from green to blue to purple and back. He should probably tell mum, but she’s been so tired lately.
Severus learns about soulmarks a few months later, when he starts at muggle school.

Mina's startled cry makes Katsuki vault over the bar to join his friends near the unconscious man.
He winces at the sight of blood soaked fabric beneath the emerald coat of the man—an elf, by his guess. Gods, how did an elf come to find his way into this place?

“What’s the line, Shoto?” Katsuki asks, pressing. He needs it defined, needs it solid. “Where’s the boundary? Is it kissing deeply? Is it under the clothes? Where do we stop?”
Another long pause. He can almost hear Shoto thinking, can picture the slight frown, the distant look in his stupid eyes.
“The line,” Shoto says slowly, “is anything that would damage our working relationship after this ends. Anything that would make it impossible for us to be partners when we walk away. That’s the only boundary that matters.”
So it's not a physical boundary. It’s an emotional one. Feelings. And that's so much more dangerous.
