Summary
Post Witcher III; the assumption being that Nilfgaard has dominated the Continent, but life is relatively peaceful. Roche is retired from the army and works as a wildlife warden. He and Geralt have a relatively new relationship. Iorveth has returned to his career as a musician; he is currently on tour and is pretty much a rockstar.
'...Oh, wait, here’s something: a post card from that insufferable elf.’ He holds the postcard at arms’ length, briefly regards the picture before reading it aloud.
"‘Don’t believe the hype. The entire South is a shithole.’"
He wears a mask of determined boredom and hands the card to Geralt. ‘He should not be permitted to step out of that forest, much less to travel. I don’t know why he bothers; if he’s not perched in his favorite tree, all he does is bitch.’

Summary
After several years of intense fighting, Vernon Roche sets out on a journey in search of his only remaining friend, Geralt of Rivia. But traversing the Realms alone and with madness knocking at his door can prove to be complicated. Unable to distinguish between what is true and what is not, Vernon must put his survival instinct to the test. Even more so when Iorveth himself comes to help him.
"Well, are you going to kill me, or are we going to talk like old friends?"
"I'm not going to kill you, Roche. I'm going, and may the dead not judge me, to help you. Elves are like merfolk, when in an environment lacking any she-elves or elflings nature finds a way. This phenomenal is spurned by elven kind and the ‘athraigh’ are both pitied and reviled. But on a continent where most she-elves are old and sterile and less then a few dozen Aen Seidhe have been born over the last decade the more common it becomes.
