Warden Amell, Kieran, and Fiona have dreams of Alistair in the Fade. Could he be alive? If so, it will take the greatest spirit healer in Thedas to ensure his survival.
Zaire works to forgive Blackwall while dealing with the arrival of Amell, Anders, and the three mabari that have arrived with them. Anders and Justice are reunited with Hawke in Skyhold. Cullen and Dorian feel out their relationship, but the memories that Anders brings back for Cullen complicate the situation. Morrigan struggles to balance protecting her son and saving his father.
They must all put aside their differences if they are to go into the Fade to bring Alistair back, staging a mission that will change all of their lives.

Then she walks in, and something about her has got him lookin’. He tries not to be obvious about it as she sits down at a table with her friend. She takes her jacket off, exposing her lean muscular arms as she hangs it on the back of her chair. Her smile is wide, and Joel can imagine how running his thumb along her full bottom lip would feel. She says something to her friend and starts to stand up.
“Christ.” He says to himself and turns quickly back to the bar, trying to shake the image of her lips from his mind. What the fuck is wrong with him? He’s not here to meet some woman. He downs the last of his beer and calls over the bartender to get the glass of whiskey he’d been thinking about all day. He feels a hand slide onto his arm, and suddenly the woman is standing beside him at the bar.
“Hi there.” She says, her fingers resting delicately on his wrist.
“Ma’am?” He looks down into her startling hazel eyes, and his mouth is suddenly dry.
IE: Joel and Tess meet at a bar in an Alternate Universe where the Cordyceps Outbreak never happens.

Summary
Meeting and romantic beginnings, but after that there is a struggle with their personalities and in particular Bill's. He has a lot of emotional resistance to both relationships but also he has been deeply in denial of his homosexual inclinations for a very long time that doesn't go away just because the apocalypse happens. That is what I think this fiction is about. It can be a bit long at times. But hopefully worthwhile. Also just more time spent together. I really wanted the show to show them more but of course that's impossible, so I wrote this instead.
