Summary
The mission on the resort moon of Spira was supposed to be a clinical extraction. Step one: Infiltrate the Azure Heights gala. Step two: Lift the code-cylinder from Grand Vizier Oridant. Step three: Leave before the truce between the Resistance and the First Order crumbles.
But when a security sweep traps them in a narrow, dead-end corridor, Rey makes a split-second tactical decision to hide their identities the only way she can think of: a distraction.
It’s meant to be a performance. A ruse. Ten minutes of "looking busy" to avoid a firing squad. But the Force Dyad doesn't know how to lie, and Ben Solo is a very, very convincing actor. By the time the guards move on, the mission is the last thing on their minds, and the air between them has become an unbearable, electric cage of their own making.

He was listening. He is hearing her but he is also staring because she looks like a poster girl on a teenage alpha’s bedroom ceiling. In just his shirt. Bare legs. Bare feet. Holding his gun.
“Hey. Alpha,” she shouts.
(Force almighty. Is she going to hit every one of his buttons in one go?)
“I’m listening,” Ben says, shaking his head at the sight before him, schooling his expression and locking eyes with her again.
“You are going to give me exactly what I want,” she says. “You are going to make up for everything you took from me.”
Ben swallows. “Rey, I—”
“Say it.
“I will. I want to.” He says.Ben is lucky. He hadn’t expected to be THIS lucky—but he is not complaining. Not that anyone would listen if he tried.

It had been months since Rey had last seen Ben. That phantom force of him had trailed after her ever since. But today, mere days after dreaming of his damned self, she felt him. Not in the lingering chill of empty rooms nor conjurations of air, but in his totality. It was as if a gust of air had rushed into her lungs, enabling her breath to come with ease. The hollow pit in her chest became filled.
Not a phantom at all, Rey realized, turning her head from where she sat on her chair. Leaning against the doorframe to her room, a dispassionate expression upon his face, was her sworn enemy. A label thrust upon him by the Resistance, one she couldn't bring herself to adopt despite the truth of it.

He set his glass of whiskey down on the bar next to her. She didn’t look at him, let alone move. He put his hands in the pockets of his suit pants as he eyed her carefully.
“Hey.” He tested the waters. She raised her perfectly manicured eyebrows, but her dark burgundy lips remained pressed together as she stared at the glass of bubbles in front of her.
“I am not a pawn in your game.” She gritted out. His eyebrows knit together. She turned to him, her eyes blazing with ferociousness. “You almost had me, and God I am such a fool.” She grabbed her clutch off the bar and turned to walk away. He grabbed her arm. She pulled out of his grasp and got in his face.
“Do not touch me. Stay away from me. In fact, stay out of my way on the track or I will put you into the wall.” She shouted in a whisper before twirling away from him. The green chiffon whipping in a trail behind her as she stomped away. Her perfume lingered in his nostrils. He closed his eyes, his jaw tensed. He cocked his head to the side in an attempt to stop himself from doing the thing he knew he shouldn’t. He followed after her.
