Tim began to tap one of his fingers against the steering wheel in time with the beat of the song, when he was suddenly thrown from inside his car. He felt his body lift and crash against his seatbelt, door, and the roof of his car. An incessant ringing replaced the flow of Mr. Brightside, and his vision was replaced by darkness. A few moments later and he regained a sluggish coherency, he glanced around himself. The ringing continued, but was slowly quieted, then he heard laughter. Shit.

Except, apparently, there's something more sinister going on beneath DI's shiny veneer. And now Tim's fighting for his life literally, not just metaphorically. Good thing the Bats are there to protect him. But why are these people so interested in his life? Seriously, don't they have better things to do? So long as Tim makes it out alive and the Bats never find out he knows their secret, everything will be fine. Too bad nothing ever goes right for Tim.OR
Tim Drake is a super badass CEO/detective/genius, but even the most resourceful of 16-year-olds needs some help when a crime lord wants them dead.

Summary
Tim’s spleen wasn't the only thing he had lost in the desert that night.
The Widower left him with an injury that had forever altered his life, but Tim had adjusted. He was fine, great even. His only worry was how his family would react when he eventually found Bruce and went back to Gotham.
But to his surprise (and relief), they never even mentioned it. They carried on as if everything was normal, and that's what Tim had wanted. At least, he thought it was.
Until an incident in the field reveals a secret Tim didn't even know was a secret, and now he is forced to deal with all the emotional blowback he thought he had avoided.
Or,
Tim loses a leg in the desert. He really thought his family had noticed.

Tim Drake is supposed to hate the vampires. Kill any that he finds, and if he runs into a pureblood-- run. If he can't get away he's supposed to end it before they can get the chance. Yet he keeps finding one. One that forces him to keep living but never taking him-- never going so far as to betray his trust.
Kon-el just wants to his boyfriend to stop getting hurt in the name of "protecting humanity", is that too much to ask?
