Or, Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov are leading the centaurs to their second Stanley Cup and enjoying a love lived out in the open. It's not always easy. Ilya's still learning to be an Alpha. Shane's still learning to let him. Luca Haas is still a busy body and Troy Barrett definitely needs therapy, but everyone is working on it. Basically a very self-indulgent fic about how hard it would be for Ilya to actually move on from the pain of the past and to go no contact with his family in a timeline where Grigori is still alive. Also, Ilya deserves to be known and loved by more people than just Shane and Sveta. Forced/Found Family here we come.

With Ilya's phone lost in the chaos, Shane has no way of finding out if Ilya is injured - or how injured. So he makes his way to Tampa.
Or: The plane crash/incident in the long game but a rougher landing, more injuries (no significant/long-lasting harm), and Shane running to Tampa to see Ilya.
Story and Chapter titles are lyrics of the song 'Sleepwalking' by All Time Low that gave me the inspiration for this fic!
First half of the story will be Angsty hurt/comfort, second half will be the comfort part of hurt/comfort with a dose of crack.

It’s fine. They’re fine. They’ve always been fine. Years later, different lives, perfectly capable of sharing a beach, a drink, and conversation that slips a little too easily into something familiar.
Fine enough not to think about it.
Around them, things stay uncomplicated. Luca is already making decisions Shane will have to deal with later. Marley is encouraging him. Svetlana is watching like she already knows how this ends.
And Shane, who is absolutely, completely fine, starts to realize something mildly inconvenient:
