“You’re fucking drunk,” Ghost had told him, finishing off the stitches.
“Simon,” Johnny had said, hand clasped over Ghost’s bare one, Ghost’s palm trapped to Soap’s arm, needle still pinched between two fingers, “I’m not afraid.”

Summary
The introduction feels a little bit like Price is introducing a new cat to the household; first he calls the two of them into his office and broaches the subject, carefully but matter of fact.
A new teammate is one thing, but this one is special. Has to be, not just to be part of the SAS, but for Price to pick him from the very short list of candidates for the 141. It helps that the man has a clear advantage over any other. He’s not a man.

“Aye?” Soap says and Ghost can about hear his grin. “I’m quakin’ in excitement, Lt.”
Soap leaves his mic on and Ghost can hear the creaking of the door open and the soft rustle of Soap's tac gear as he walks over to the body.
A sharp intake of breath and then a low whistle.
“Careful, Lt,” Soap rumbles, accent noticeably thicker, “bloody gifts like these, might think yer courtin’ me proper. The old way at least.”
And that's how it starts.

Summary
Eight years is a long time. It could completely change a person - and Ghost thinks that's exactly what the years since the 141's formation have done to him. He remains the best of the best, as Price demands from all of them, but the bonds he has with his team far surpass anything he expected to have after the Roba mission. He is still a soldier first and foremost, but something dangerously human lurks beneath the surface.
More than anything, a brash, bright-eyed sergeant stands at his shoulder, and Ghost doesn't know what to do with him - never has.
OR, a story of subtleties, told in the only language Ghost still knows and the only language Soap can speak: devotion.

Summary
*New Chapter!*
Heading to the front office he’s really starting to feel the loss of his morning coffee. He’s so tired he almost misses the clumps of mud and dirt that are starting to cover the pathway. But there’s no way he could miss a whole plot dug up. Right next to the brand new bulbs he planted yesterday a whole plot is disturbed, grass, topsoil, down to the rocky soil that lies deep under.
“I swear to Christ if those boys dug up the wrong plot-” he starts, but it dies in his chest. The actual plot isn’t very far from where he stands. He can see it from there, and he can see it neatly refilled with the green tarp covering it, waiting to be reseeded with grass. That cold discomfort sets into his stomach again, and all his reassurances melt away. Something else dug this plot up.
The headstone is old, unreadable and crooked as it sits at the maw of the hole. It’s dug sloppy and uneven, like it wasn’t even done with a tool. Like it was done with nothing more than bare hands.
John is a humble graveyard keeper. Happy, if not a bit bored. Then a grave is disturbed, a stranger appears at his house, and everything changes.

Summary
When Simon was eight years old, his father brought home an old shepherd dog. Him and his brother named it Rocko. Rocko was an old fighting dog, from what Simon could remember. Hell, there were more scars on him than fur, so he must have been. That made Rocko a so-called rescue. Though, in the Riley household, the word lost its meaning.
Soap is left behind on a mission and it brings Ghost to several realisations about himself and his relationship with the Sergeant.

Summary
There was only so much you could do to a dead man, you see, before he became more of a liability than an advantage. In theory, the idea of not killing Ghost— of keeping him alive, taking him back to the base and torturing all the information they could get out of him was a good one. However, in practice, the issue became more complicated.
Or— Ghost is sent home to recover after being victim to cartel torture, and then Soap shows up.

He lets Yuuji catch his breath, wiping a tear from one of his eyes. His smile is still somehow so pure, his laugh unfiltered and real, and his golden brown eyes glow and shimmer when he's happy. Satoru can definitively say that Yuuji is good.
He's also so pretty.
Now, though, as Yuuji gazes at him with a certain glint in his eyes and his bottom lip caught between his teeth, Satoru thinks it might become a problem for him.
