“Fuck.” Shane melted into the strong hand at his neck, the pressure over his throat and the heat of the Alpha’s palm. “Fuck, that’s–” his eyes started to flutter closed, his knees going weak, but he heard the Alpha huff a laugh and immediately stiffened again.
“Don’t do that.” he warned. “Don’t laugh like me letting you put your hand on my throat is predictable submissive Omega behavior and you're making fun of me."
“That is not why i was laughing.” Ilya squeezed Shane’s throat lightly, his thumb pressing over the suppressant patch covering the Omega's bonding spot and blocking his sweet scent. “I thought you would fight it, fight submitting. But you didn’t.”
“No I–” Shane swallowed hard. “I like it.”
“Good.” Ilya smiled slow and a little dangerous, running his tongue over his bottom lip and then over the sharp ends of his fangs before he leaned in and growled into the Omega’s ear. “Now get on your knees.”

Yoongi thinks about him a lot. About his bright smile and warm, squeaky laugh that makes his eyes squeeze closed. Sometimes, Yoongi likes to pretend that the convenience store hyung is his boyfriend. That he could be his boyfriend.
It feels so real that he can almost imagine it could be true. That he can almost feel the warmth of another hand in his, fingers slotted between his own. The ghost of a laugh or another voice ringing through the quiet of his apartment.
Beautiful dreams, perfect fantasies. But none of it is real. None of it could ever happen.
Not because Yoongi is too shy to make a move or ask the guy out. Yoongi could do it. Or, more accurately, he could do it eventually. Work up the courage to ask the cashier out for real.
Or he would. But he can’t.
Because the man isn’t real.

Yoongi, lonely and a little lost, falls in love with the hologram cashier at the convenience store. He knows it’s not normal, knows it’s a poor coping mechanism, but he never expects to meet the real Seokjin.

Trying to find what everyone tells him should be there, over a decade of memories. Familiarity, comfort, love. But there is only a blank space.
“I don’t remember you,” Yoongi whispers.
Namjoon nods and bows his head, folding over the hands clasped in his lap. “I know I can’t convince you that we’re together, that we have been. But we are, Yoongi.” He peeks up at Yoongi, eyes pleading. “We have a life together, we love each other.”
And Yoongi still stares, something in his chest aching at the desperate, hopeful expression on Namjoon’s face. But there is nothing there.
“I’m sorry.”

His voice became if it were possible, more gentle. “Some men I knew from Edoras said Theoden’s daughter was a changeling from Fangorn. Years ago they said you were a weak child, likely to die in infancy, but of course, that was not so.” He said, eyes heavy-lidded, considering her, trying to find the truth in all the tales that were spun surrounding her.
“You know what men are like with their stories,” she retorted, turning away from the painting to a tall stone statue, a broken sword laid across its arms like a funeral shroud.

Summary
“Lovely, isn’t it?”
Looking up, Yoongi finds Namjoon watching him. He’s smiling, something soft that has his dimples appearing again.
“I love the resilience of lotus flowers,” Namjoon continues, setting a pot of tea and two cups on the table. “They bloom in the murkiest, muddiest swamps. The roots start under the water until they reach the surface and become beautiful flowers. They’re so delicate but so strong and determined.”
Yoongi stares at the flower as Namjoon speaks, turning the words over in his mind. The little white lotus spins slowly in the water, its petals open wide. “It’s really beautiful,” Yoongi says finally.

After having his heart cruelly broken, Yoongi feels like he’s tried everything to get over it and move on. Everything, except magic. Which leads him to a magic shop with a forest green door, and Namjoon.

“I saw this really pretty butterfly,” Taehyung says, his eyes nearly crossed as he tries to look at Yoongi’s hand on his nose. “I was following it and I didn’t even realize I wandered into the road.”
Yoongi steps back, bloodied gauze in hand. “You were following a butterfly?”
“Yes.” Taehyung sighs dreamily. “It was blue.”
If he’s being honest, this is not at all what Yoongi expected vampires to be like. He didn’t expect scary bloodsucking monsters either, nothing like that. But… well, he didn’t expect a guy who follows butterflies and seems to, maybe, be not entirely all there.

Paramedic Yoongi meets vampire Taehyung when he gets hit by a car while following a butterfly. After being stuck in his coffin for [mumbles] years, Taehyung is a little eccentric and behind the times. Yoongi isn’t entirely sure why he offered Taehyung, who can only name three songs off the top of his head, music appreciation lessons. But inviting a vampire into his home and his life is probably no big deal. Right?

Untethered now, the Big Thought floating free. Hoseok’s little box had fallen apart. He hadn’t realised, but every sweet moment that day, each laugh and every smile aimed his way, all the hugs and the looks and the touches, had left cracks behind, until all it needed was Jungkook’s warm presence and beautiful voice to break it entirely.
And it seemed now, in the light of this moment, that Hoseok could finally see it, the feeling he’d been avoiding.
