“Hey, is Harry okay,” Judit pointed. Jean squinted, finding it hard to see through the front window because of the glare. A few seconds later Harry burst onto the sidewalk and began vomiting into a flower pot.
“Holy shit.”

“Jean? Yes, it’s Kim, do you have a moment?” Asked the thin voice on the line.“Sure,” Jean replied cautiously. There was a pause.
“I’m going to be honest, I need some help with Harry,” Kim said, pausing for a reply. Jean gritted his teeth. He knew Kim hadn’t been through this cycle with Harry before, like he had so many times. Because of this he didn’t feel it necessary to yell obscenities at him like he normally did at whoever brought up Harry.

“Intellectual stimulation?” Kim was struck by how different this man was sober: playful and charming and not nearly as pathetic. A proper flirt, his voice and posture expressive, exuding warmth. Kim had liked him as a sad drunk, but relatively sober? Oh, Kim liked him.
Kim and Harry meet eight years before Martinaise at a cruising bar where Kim never wears his glasses.

Summary
It's been a few months since Martinaise. Kim has managed to transfer to the 41th, losing his motor carriage in the process. Harry has managed to stay sober, after some initial struggles. Now they're officially partners and following a new case that puts them at odds with the captains. When Harry assaults someone who's barely involved with the case and begins spiraling, Kim can't help but offer him kindness, again. Harry offers something else in return.

“It’s me, Harry! Kim, don’t you remember me? Fuck, there’s something really wrong happening.”
“If you’re referring to the dead body that has been hanging from a tree for seven days—then yes, I agree. It is pretty wrong.” Kim is looking at you with his mouth slightly pursed. There’s no recognition in his eyes—he looks at you like you’re a stranger.
“This can’t be happening." Kim clears his throat.
“You are clearly going through… something. But I would appreciate it if we could focus on the case for the moment.”
“Oh my god,” you say. “We did it already, Kim, but for some reason I’m the only one who remembers! This is some—some cosmic joke from the universe, I’ll tell you that.”
“Okay,” Kim says, slowly. “I’m going to give you a moment while I talk to the manager. You’re going to sit down and sort out whatever it is you’re doing. And then we’re going to take down that corpse.”
