Then he took a deep breath and he changed. He ironed out every fold in his posture and his face until he looked like Superman again. His shoulders were broad, his gaze was confident, and his smile showed no sign of embarrassment or fear.
It’s genuinely uncomfortable to watch.
Especially since Bruce knows that change. He’s seen it in the mirror before entering parties or nightclubs. He’s always referred to it, internally, as 'putting on my better face.' The façade is his least favourite part of the day, ranking just below 'getting punched by supervillains.'
The idea that Superman is just Kal's better face, that would explain a lot.
It would also mean Bruce isn't alone.

Summary
“Do I still make you happy?”
Ed suddenly wished he hadn’t offered, but he had given Stede his word, and they weren’t going to fix whatever they were without being honest. They both knew when Ed said on the beach that Stede made him happy that he had been saying so much more than that, and now Stede was asking if it was still true.
“Yeah,” Ed whispered, “think so.”
“Well good,” Stede was blushing, but he didn’t pull his gaze away, “you make me happy, too.”
They were still in love.
Ed let out a shaking breath, waiting to see if Stede would do something, anything, to move their relationship forward. Stede watched him just as closely, like he was waiting for permission.
“Think you should probably kiss me now,” Ed whispered, the tension in the room suddenly crushing.
“Would that be alright?”
“Yeah.”
“Lovely.”

Summary
Ed shifted, planting his boots on the floor so that his legs were on each side of Stede’s, crowding into his space.
“Ten minutes ago, you wouldn’t speak to me, and now you want to fuck me?” Ed lowered his voice to a deep hushed tone, the one that usually resulted in Stede tackling him to the bed.
“Love is strange,” Stede replied, his eyes fixed on Ed’s lips.
Ed leaned in closer. “That, I agree with.”----
It has been a couple of months since Stede and Ed reunited and made up, and they're co-captains on the Revenge. A wayward merchant vessel seems like an easy target for a raid, until one of the sailors on board baits Ed into a duel. Ed and Stede have a fight about the fallout, and eventually make up. A lot.
