Mac’s mouth waters at the sound of the tape whirring in the VCR, at the way the light from the TV splashes phosphorescent blue across the darkened dorm room, sharpening the edges of the textbooks stacked on the desk and the soft lines of his bare thighs against the bedsheets. He swallows around his Pavlovian response when the right side of the mattress dips, eyes trained in the direction of the TV but hard to feel anything beyond the electric sensation of Dennis’ arm grazing his. He hands him the half-empty bottle - lotion, not booze, he laments - the fifth of Jose Cuervo sits empty on the nightstand, the sugary-sour flavor still heavy on his tongue.
It’s not gay if you’re looking at tits, bro. That’s what Dennis told him the first time, right?
At any rate, that’s the version of the truth Mac’s let himself believe, the first time and every time after.

Will knew what had happened. He knew exactly how Abigail's ear had gotten into him, who had shoved it down his throat. He also knew that trying to indicate Hannibal as a killer again was futile. Jack seemed to want to believe him, going by the conversation in the BSHCI's visitor hall, but Jack needed something concrete, evidence. Hannibal had eluded capture for so long, he wasn't going to start leaving fingerprints or hairs at his crime scenes now.
No, Will was going to deal with Hannibal Lecter on his own terms. The man deserved to reap what he'd so carefully sowed, didn't he? He deserved to experience what he'd coaxed forth from the bottom of Will's soul, to see the result of his machinations.

Everything is going well until Will becomes suspicious that he is the real object of Hannibal's affections, and all of a sudden contestants start to turn up murdered.
"Vena Amoris" is the (Mythical!) vein that runs from the ring finger to the heart; supposedly that is why we wear wedding rings on that finger.

Summary
Will kisses Alana Bloom then runs straight to Hannibal Lecter's house in a blizzard when he crashes and burns. A direct continuation of the scene in Fromage where Will tells Hannibal about the kiss. Will realizes quickly, while they share a bottle of wine over that delicious looking dessert, that the good Doctor is clearly attracted to him. The snow is getting worse when Will starts to hear the phantom whimpering again and he falls on the same tactics of avoidance he'd used earlier unsuccessfully on Alana to change the subject with Hannibal. Things go much better this time around, to the surprise of everyone involved.
["There may come a time Will, when you realize Alana was right to turn you down. There may even come a time when you resent that I failed to do the same but I want you to remember," Hannibal snarled, forcing Will to stumble backward as he stalked them across the room and into his desk. "I want you to remember just how hard I tried to say no to you."]
