Before The Advancement, most human lives and careers were plagued by irrationality and a lack of productivity. This was largely the symptom of what scientists refer to as “interpersonal passion,” which included two separate (though often conjointly occurring) phenomena: “love,” and “sex.” “Love” was a pre-Advancement word which referred to an irrationally strong bond between two people, which caused its sufferers to prioritise their fellow “lover,” as well as the integrity of the malignant bond itself, over vital things such as workplace productivity. Taken every two weeks in pill form, The Drug immediately removes interpersonal passion from the human psyche. Children’s friendships do not have the capacity to develop into full-fledged “love” since they are not yet adults. Every person over eighteen takes The Drug gladly, grateful that it allows them to be productive, clear-headed, and rational members of society.
A few weeks before Louis’ eighteenth birthday, Harry and Louis fall in love.

Louis grabbed the nearest pen like he was considering a murder. “Say princess again, I dare you.”
Harry’s grin went downright evil. “Princess.”
“You’re insufferable,” he hissed. “Actually insufferable. If you vanished tomorrow, I would personally throw a parade.”
Harry leaned in again, chin propped on his hand, dimples in full force. “Cute parade? Pink streamers? Princess-themed?”
Louis made a sound that was halfway between a groan and a scream, grabbed his notebook, and buried his face in it. “I hope you fall in the fountain on your way home. And then get pneumonia. And then fail your finals.”
Harry beamed at him like Louis had just proposed marriage. “God, you’re adorable when you threaten me.”
Or- Louis is just trying to graduate without losing his mind — but apparently the universe has other plans, because Harry keeps showing up in the uni coffee shop, grinning like he’s flirting on purpose (he definitely is). Between coffee shop bickering, campus fair chaos, and way too many run-ins with the man, Louis’ biggest problem isn’t hating Harry anymore… It’s pretending he doesn’t want to climb him like a tree.

Harry always loved beautiful things.
He loved beautiful colors, flowers that were each different from the other, he could stare for hours at butterflies and birds that were sporting beautiful shapes of colored strokes each in their own unique patterns.
Humans were confusing creatures
Harry just couldn’t understand why people never said what they thought and had to constantly speak in code, interacting with them was always a difficult task- he would usually just say what he thought, but apparently that was considered rude at times… and sometimes he could see the way people realized there was something odd about him, and it hurt.Harry loved beautiful things- and Louis was so beautiful inside and out.
