The golden disc dances mockingly on Hunter's palm. Exhausted trembling causing it to skip around. It looks fake. This whole deal seems like a sham and sounds just as absurd.
"One piece of advice. Only one," is the singsong reminder from the shifty figure.
It's a last-ditch attempt. They have nothing to lose. Hunter takes a deep breath and flips the tiny dial.

But when Omega returns with a clearly traumatised Crosshair, buried resentment and old tensions between the pair resurface. As Hunter and Crosshair clash, Wrecker is caught in the middle - torn between holding their fragile family together and holding on to the relationship he’s terrified of losing.

The best and simultaneously most infuriating thing about Tech is that he’s utterly unflappable. Great for high-pressure situations; less great for his ability to win at any argument with anyone ever through sheer force of calm patience as he simply outlasts any opposition.
So when Crosshair throws himself into the corner of Tech’s bunk – the fact that there is an open corner is a miracle in and of itself – and asks the next day while they’re waiting on Hunter and Wrecker to return from a combat module, “Do you ever get handsy with any regs?” he’s not expecting the frozen stillness nor the pink flush that tinges his brother’s cheeks in an instant.
“You do,” Crosshair crows triumphantly; the color darkens dramatically and he gawps and corrects in delight, “You don’t.”
Tech fixes his eyes intently on the fiddly tool and programming board propped in his lap where he’s sat cross-legged in his bunk, griping, “That simply cannot be any concern of yours, Crosshair.”

Crosshair snorts. “I’m sure you do,” he replies dryly, but he’s the one who hits the button to open the door, half-shoving Hunter through.

Hunter isn’t happy when the 501st Legion requests only Crosshair for a mission. The Batch always work together, and he doesn’t like the idea of one of his brothers going off on his own so he invites himself along. He might have an ulterior motive for getting Crosshair alone, too. Unfortunately, improvision doesn’t work very well when it comes to sex, so it’s a good thing they have Rex to guide them.

He doesn’t know what he expected the shadow to do, but it’s not to give him a withering glare, a spark of anger in his eyes. Finally. Something. The coldness, the emptiness, it was scaring him, though he’ll never admit it. “Do you have a better explanation?”

Crosshair’s mission is simple up until the moment when Hunter yells at him. But it’s not his Hunter. This new, second Hunter is… different. Older. Broken. And he’s entirely unhinged and feral. Summary
The Bad Batch protects their own. It’s their most sacred promise to each other, come hell or high water. When a reg named Echo joins Crosshair’s squad, Crosshair makes that promise again.
However, in the stark halls of Kamino, Crosshair discovers that Echo’s decision to join the Bad Batch is only the beginning. On Kamino, Crosshair and his brothers are helpless to watch as Echo’s augmentations thrust him into the sights of the Kaminoan scientists. The Bad Batch promised to protect Echo, but the promises of clones are fragile things.
As Echo struggles to heal in the midst of a war and the Batch’s loyalties are tested, darkness creeps ever-closer, irresistible and unrelenting. The war is nearing its end, and none of them will escape unscathed.
