Then last month, Declan had stuck a poster he’d found of the Lust Conquers All contestant up in the dressing room; within the first hour, it had been defaced with sharpie and something Will really hopes was shampoo. After last week’s 0-0 draw, he’d overheard Sam and Babatunde discuss how much better they felt while playing without worrying about him not passing or blaming them for his slip-ups. And of course, whenever Nate pulled him up for not folding the towels correctly, or not organising the boots in the right order, or not filling the water bottle exactly to the 500ml mark, he would make sure he knew how lucky he was Jamie Tartt wasn’t here, he’d fuck you right up if he saw you do that. So suffice to say, Will was expecting things to take a turn for the worse when he heard the striker addressing him.
